Wonderful reading performance.

This is one of those stories that are so finely wrought that it seems it must be true. It’s only the magical nature of the tale that tells you that it is not. Easy to listen to although sometimes the tragedies that occur along the way make it difficult at times to go on with it. Keep going. There are rewards to be had.

The performance is so spot on that it feels like MLK is speaking directly to my heart. I listened brimming with tears as so much of what he says still has great meaning today as it did more than fifty years ago.

Funny and sad at the same time. Interesting naturalist pictures of wildlife of Galápagos Islands along with and embedded in the story, that I appreciated because of my upcoming trip to Galapagos. Very good reader.

Alicia’s towering talent is obvious throughout. Starting as a young prodigy all the way through her career she reveals an extraordinary ability to not only create music but to create an inspiring life. Hearing it told in her own voice feels like a privilege.

Fully engrossing from start to finish, Carter in a simple telling that includes both intensely personal stories and historical events that occurred during his life. Great insight into the thoughts and achievements of an honorable man.

Steve Stoliar gives us the witty voice of Groucho while sharing his experience of being close to the admired icon during the last years of his life. Stoliar’s ability to create the voices of every person in the story entertains. Anyone who has loved Marx brothers movies will be engrossed by this fascinating book.

Interesting but not a great story

I think you would have to be really interested in the lives of the rich and famous. Not for their great achievements but for the way they lived their lives of entitlement. Anderson speaks as if he’s just in a rush to get the whole thing over with. Something of a curiosity but not particularly entertaining.

The narrator’s style sounded more like he was making a grand announcement with every sentence. I found this distracting. I preferred a more conversational reading style. Once I got past that, the topic was super interesting and entertaining.

Gave me a much deeper appreciation for Legend’s path to fame and for who he is as a full rounded person. He expresses his beliefs and convictions honestly and beautifully. The music is gorgeous.
