Thank you.
Revisado: 01-29-25
Thank you for baring your soul – being more vulnerable than I ever could be – in order to share your perspective on a life event that people like me will never be able to experience bully. I think I understand your side of the equation better now; I accept that I will never fully understand it, but I will endeavor to be as empathetic and compassionate to others as possible. Of course, I was already going to do that, but your words made it even more imperative for me.

Historia
Rigel is a thousand lightyears farther from the Core Worlds than Earth, so they suffer the first attacks. The mood at Central is jubilant. Our greatest rival is falling—now is the time to strike while they’re weak! Legion Varus is deployed to Jungle World, a vital planet deep in Rigellian territory. Our foes, fighting on two fronts, are driven back with ease. But one man questions the wisdom of this move. Should Earth expand with greed, aiding new monsters from the Galactic Rim? That lone voice of reason comes from James McGill.

Revisado: 11-12-24
The plot holes keep getting filled, and James keeps dying in the service of Earth only to pop right back out again. I love this series!

Historia
Rebels build a secret base on Green World. Their plan is to attack Earth and retake all the planets the humans have conquered. Hegemony starships gather to strike the Rebels first, but where is their base? As the fleets search, Earth warships trespass into Skay space, igniting a fresh border conflict between rival Galactics. When James McGill stumbles onto the rebel camp, they’re forced to step up their plans. The world goes up in flames. Friends are permed and cities are destroyed as everything spins out of control.

Things just keep getting worse for Earth, but James keeps fixing things, sort of!
Revisado: 11-12-24
One of the things I like best about this series is the description of how Earth is now a dystopian hellscape, but the exposition is described in the background, almost as an afterthought. I think this is the best way to describe a setting, and B. V. Larson does an excellent job of making it clear just how bad things are without over explaining or taking over the plot.

Historia
An artificial object made of compressed stardust is barreling toward Earth. Is it an invasion ship? A doomsday weapon? Perhaps it’s the final response of Squanto, the Warlord of Rigel who James McGill has repeatedly humiliated. Or could it be from the Mogwa, sent to avenge McGill’s assassination of Earth’s Imperial Governor? No one knows the truth of its origins, but the object is huge and unstoppable. Whoever hurled this rock at us isn’t answering our calls. Every weapon bounces off, and the people of Earth begin to go mad as they realize their destruction is only hours away.

You will be consumed!
Revisado: 11-12-24
The universe just keeps getting bigger and bigger, and James just keeps slogging through the mud and blood of every planet he is sent to. These adventures are exciting, sexy, and funny in the way that only certain forms of fatalism can be. Nihilistic, yet hopeful, in the best possible way!

Circled by six moons, the planet is ravaged by wild storms and tides. Battles are fought in raging hurricanes, and death stalks the soldiers on both sides.

Keep printing more Jameses!
Revisado: 11-12-24
Every character is well defined at this point in the series, but it never gets boring to hear what the hell they're up to this year! The legion is always sent to some craptastic, vividly described new planet to fight a heartless enemy, and your favorite characters complain the whole way down. I love these books!

Keep dying James; we are here for it!
Revisado: 11-12-24
The character development in this series is top-notch! Every entry is like coming home and hanging out with old friends; if your home is an incredibly violent, blood soaked alien landscape, and your friends are narcissistic, emotionally damaged assholes. I just can't get enough of James and his band of misfit killers!

Historia
The Galactics arrived with their Battle Fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined a vast Empire that spanned the Milky Way. Today, Battle Fleet 921 is returning to Earth. It hasn't been seen by human eyes since our blissful day of Annexation. But what should be a joyful occasion, a chance to grovel at the feet of superior lifeforms, is rapidly becoming a nightmare.
