Historia
In the United States, teenagers can focus on one task for only sixty-five seconds at a time, and office workers average only three minutes. Like so many of us, Johann Hari was finding that constantly switching from device to device and tab to tab was a diminishing and depressing way to live. He tried all sorts of self-help solutions—even abandoning his phone for three months—but nothing seemed to work. So Hari went on an epic journey across the world to interview the leading experts on human attention—and he discovered that everything we think we know about this crisis is wrong.

Important!! Attention!!
Revisado: 02-12-22
The ideas in this book are important for our future, our childrens future and our everyday life. Hari does a great job of synthesizing a lot of information and telling us why these things are important. I’m giving this book to my grown children and telling all my friends. Thank you, Johann!

Historia
Deep is a voyage from the ocean's surface to its darkest trenches, the most mysterious places on Earth. Fascinated by the sport of freediving - in which competitors descend to great depths on a single breath - James Nestor embeds with a gang of oceangoing extreme athletes and renegade researchers. He finds whales that communicate with other whales hundreds of miles away, sharks that swim in unerringly straight lines through pitch-black waters, and other strange phenomena.

Usually I don’t like it when I’m not the resistant books… They often aren’t good at it. James Nestor is definitely an exception. And what he has to say is both fascinating and important, like the Ocean, which he illuminates just a little more.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Historia
When Michael Pollan set out to research how LSD and psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) are being used to provide relief to people suffering from difficult-to-treat conditions such as depression, addiction, and anxiety, he did not intend to write what is undoubtedly his most personal book. But upon discovering how these remarkable substances are improving the lives not only of the mentally ill but also of healthy people coming to grips with the challenges of everyday life, he decided to explore the landscape of the mind in the first person as well as the third.

Revisado: 06-04-18
The subject matter of this book is important, in my opinion, to what happens to our culture in the future. Michael Pollan does a really good job of presenting information about this subject, both objectively and subjectively. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

In his energetic, funny, and intelligent memoir, Peter Coyote relives his 15-year ride through the heart of the counterculture - a journey that took him from the quiet rooms of privilege as the son of an East Coast stockbroker to the riotous life of political street theater and the self-imposed poverty of the West Coast communal movement known as The Diggers.

I grew up just a little too young to be a hippie in the Sixties, but old enough to want to be and to adopt the values they stood for. This first-hand account afforded me an intimate account of one persons experience of those timed and a reminder of the importance of those values. Thank you, Peter Coyote.

Russell Never Fails to Delight
Revisado: 11-05-17
I’m listening to this book on audible. I’m a big fan of Russell Brand… I love his combination of profound and silly. His writing about his experience at the end of chapter 5 just blew me away. That’s what prompted me to write this review. I’ve come to admire him even more than I did before I started this book. Keep going Russell! Your humanity becomes you and inspires me.

In Tokyo, 16-year-old Nao has decided there's only one escape from her aching loneliness and her classmates' bullying. But before she ends it all, Nao first plans to document the life of her great grandmother, a Buddhist nun who's lived more than a century. A diary is Nao's only solace—and will touch lives in ways she can scarcely imagine. Across the Pacific, we meet Ruth, a novelist living on a remote island who discovers a collection of artifacts washed ashore in a Hello Kitty lunchbox - possibly debris from the devastating 2011 tsunami.

The government has just declared a State of Emergency, in whose upheavals four strangers—a spirited widow, a young student uprooted from his idyllic hill station, and two tailors who have fled the caste violence of their native village—will be thrust together, forced to share one cramped apartment and an uncertain future.
