Beautifully Haunting Story
Revisado: 08-09-17
Where does From Sand and Ash rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One way I judge a book is if I can't wait to read/listen. The second way is is does the story stay with me. This book did both for me. The story was haunting as it was set during WWII and the holocaust but also held a pearl of a love story. I loved all of the characters
What does Cassandra Campbell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I've listened to Cassandra Campbell narrate many stories and am a big fan of her intonation, accents, emotion. I've actually selected audio books simply because she was narrating them.

Cath is a Simon Snow fan. Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan, but for Cath, being a fan is her life - and she's really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow Series when they were just kids; it's what got them through their mother leaving. Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere. Cath's sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can't let go.

Huge FAN of Fangirl
Revisado: 08-26-16
Would you listen to Fangirl again? Why?
Probably not...I don't relisten to books though this would be on my list if I did!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Fangirl?
I enjoyed the angst Cath felt when Nick took ownership of their shared work and how she handled it. Generally I can't pick a single moment though. The book flowed seamlessly and captured my heart and mind. It was difficult to stop listening.
What does Rebecca Lowman and Maxwell Caulfield bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I thought both were excellent! Perfect choices for the characters.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Would make a great movie but can't think of a tag line :(
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed immensely and would recommend to those who like feel good books.

An engaging reflection of the Apollo missions
Revisado: 08-04-16
Where does A Man on the Moon: The Voyages of the Apollo Astronauts rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Top 20
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Man on the Moon: The Voyages of the Apollo Astronauts?
I thoroughly enjoyed the reflections from the Astronauts POV who were tasked to complete the many geological missions while on the moon.
What does Bronson Pinchot bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Bronson Pinchot was a star from beginning to end! His tone and inflection were spot on. He did a great job seamlessly moving into the various voices of the astronauts and back to narrator.

Plain Fame is just Plain Boring
Revisado: 07-11-16
What was most disappointing about Sarah Price’s story?
I found this story to be a bit juvenile in the plot line and the writing. The abrupt ending felt like a cheap ploy to force you into buying into the series. I am not going to fall for that one! Lastly you can't tell me that Alejandro wouldn't fire his manager for manipulating him for publicity sake. Not believable!
What aspect of Amy McFadden’s performance would you have changed?
I think Amy did a fine job with the content she had to work with.

In the tradition of New York Times best sellers What Remains by Carole Radziwill and Oh the Glory of It All by Sean Wilsey, Christina McDowell's unflinching memoir is a brutally honest, cautionary tale about one family's destruction in the wake of the Wall Street implosion.

Giving the Author Props for Raw Honesty
Revisado: 05-28-16
What did you like best about this story?
First I have to say, I am generally a fan of autobiographies and memoirs. I learn so much from listening to others' journeys. I think what I liked best was the realness of the pain, denial and coping mechanisms Christina so openly shared.
What does Christina McDowell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I always get more when I listen directly from the author.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
My only extreme reaction was the apparent dissolution her father displayed throughout her story. I read the summary court opinion on his appeal back in 2014 based on the Janus case. It's clear he still doesn't own his behavior or actions.

Despite the protests of her sister that the 19th-century yellow-brick house they share in Michigan is already too cluttered with Jaymie's "junk," she successfully outbids the other buyers and triumphantly takes home her Hoosier.

Revisado: 05-05-16
What would have made A Deadly Grind better?
This story was better suited for a teen reader. It was a bit juvenile in writing and plot.
Would you ever listen to anything by Victoria Hamilton again?
Unlikely if her other books have the same writing style and tone.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Enjoyed learning about Hoosier cabinets. Made me interested in researching them more.

Revisado: 04-24-16
Where does Love, Loss, and What We Ate rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Top 25. I appreciated Padma's candor and authenticity recounting some incredibly painful moments in her life.
Which scene was your favorite?
I enjoyed Padma's descriptions of family life in India. She comes from a very colorful and lively family! I can't say there was a favorite scene but I appreciated her growth, self discovery and maturation throughout the book culminating in the repair and building of a positive relationship with her daughter's father. That is what putting the child first looks like!

This Book makes you FEEL!
Revisado: 04-15-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Before I Go to be better than the print version?
Absolutely! First, I am a big fan of the narrator Rebecca Lowman. She has a way of bringing the characters to life. Second, the audio version made me weep as I'd become vested in the characters. Reading it would not have gleaned the same level of emotion!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Daisy...of course!

Emotionally Engaging and Moving Story
Revisado: 04-07-16
What did you like best about this story?
Mara's journey into the disease was very raw and real. I loved the unexpected relationship she developed with Harry during the last week. Lastly I thought it was smart writing to balance Scott's story and journey with Mara's.
What does Rebecca Lowman and Kirby Heyborne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I so enjoy Rebecca's narration that I specifically ordered this book because I'd listened to a few other books she narrated and really like her tone, emotion and cadence. She really brings the characters to life for me.
