Historia
Cassandra Penelope Dankworth is a creature of habit. She likes what she likes (museums, jumpsuits, her boyfriend, Will) and strongly dislikes what she doesn't (mess, change, her boss drinking out of her mug). Her life runs in a pleasing, predictable order…until now. Then, something truly unexpected happens: Cassie discovers she can go back and change the past. One small rewind at a time, Cassie attempts to fix the life she accidentally obliterated, but soon she'll discover she's trying to fix all the wrong things.

Sometimes hard to get through but so worth it
Revisado: 12-30-23
Wow! Just finished it and I know that I will be thinking about this book for a while. Now this book is long and a little hard to get through truth be told, but the reader made it lovely to listen to. Part of why it was hard for me to get through was because of all the details, but it makes sense based on how this character is like so I wouldn’t change a thing. I think that anyone who reads this book would learn something about themselves, even if they don’t identify with the main character. I myself learned that we need to be true to ourselves and the importance of female relationships. Highly recommend.

Historia
High-powered businesswoman Lana Rubicon has a lot to be proud of: her keen intelligence, impeccable taste, and the L.A. real estate empire she’s built. But when she finds herself trapped 300 miles north of the city, convalescing in a sleepy coastal town with her adult daughter Beth and teenage granddaughter Jack, Lana is stuck counting otters instead of square footage—and hoping that boredom won’t kill her before the cancer does.

Light read and enjoyable. Good escape from harshness of the world right now. Loved the complexity of the mother daughter relationship.

Love love this sequel!
Revisado: 08-02-21
I finished this book with a big smile on my face. I highly recommend this book. I loved learning about where the characters turned up in 12 years. The author did a great job bridging the past and the current time. Other reviewers have said that the author did too much retelling of the last book, but I don’t feel that way at all. I thought that it was crucial and relevant as it helped the reader understand the whys of the current situation. I still would recommend to read the first book then this one.
Just when you wonder how the 2 major problems in the book are related, the author ties it together perfectly.
The readers for this book were great too and I loved the different voices for each character.
I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

Historia
It’s 2002, a year after 9/11. It’s an extremely turbulent time politically, but especially so for someone like Shirin, a 16-year-old Muslim girl who’s tired of being stereotyped. Shirin is never surprised by how horrible people can be. So she’s built up protective walls and refuses to let anyone close enough to hurt her. Instead, she drowns her frustrations in music and spends her afternoons break dancing with her brother. But then she meets Ocean James. He’s the first person in forever who really seems to want to get to know Shirin.

Simply beautiful
Revisado: 06-21-21
I don’t usually read YA books but I read this for a book club on diverse authors. I loved this book. It opened my eyes to the Muslim immigrant experience and at the same time brought me back to how I felt with my first love. Would recommend for everyone to read. Loved it.

Great writing, furiously idiotic characters
Revisado: 05-04-20
This book certainly gave me a lot to think about and wishing that I could process it with other readers! Well written. As a counselor, I was maddened by the fact that the main characters thought it was ok to still live together after finding out that their children were messing around. And then to be shocked that they got pregnant! Really? How stupid and self centered can you be? Just move out! But that is beside the point. I definitely want to read another book by the author. I recommend this book.

Historia
In her hit Netflix comedy special Baby Cobra, an eight-month pregnant Ali Wong resonated so strongly that she even became a popular Halloween costume. Wong told the world her remarkably unfiltered thoughts on marriage, sex, Asian culture, working women, and why you never see new mom comics on stage but you sure see plenty of new dads.

Extremely funny!
Revisado: 01-04-20
As a mom of her generation that is also a minority, her book really made me feel seen. From her tales of growing up in an immigrant family, her tales abroad, how she met her husband, and children, she tells her stories with such hilarity that I found myself laughing out load many times, even while I would listen when I was running outside. While most of it is so inappropriate, I really appreciate that she put it all out there. It is so funny and I would recommend this book to any woman. I wished that I heard this book earlier so I would have caught her show when she was in my city. Great job Ali! Can’t wait to see the rest of your work.
