Historia
The play Don Juan in Hell originated as Act 3, Scene 2, of Man and Superman and is a spirited debate between Heaven and Hell. It was written by Irish playwright and a master of social commentary George Bernard Shaw (1856 – 1950), who is probably most famous for Pygmalion amongst his 60 plays. This famous performance features Charles Boyer as Don Juan, Charles Laughton as the Devil, Cedric Hardwicke as the Commander, and Agnes Moorehead as Doña Ana.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Historia
A hazy aerial photograph and a sinister curse are the only clues Dr Ben Kazin has before he stumbles on the archaeological discovery of a lifetime. Beneath the red cliffs of Botswanaland a magnificent unknown civilization has remained buried for millennia. But the magic of uncovering a lost culture is harshly interrupted by the violence of terrorists, love, intrigue, and the breathtaking secrets of centuries.

sunbird neither dazzles nor soars
Revisado: 08-05-08
having read the sunbierd and been thrilled by it, i downloaded this audio version to listen to it while travelling.
it has been abridged, and some essential parts removed altogether.
apart from that, the thrill that was conveyed in print is missing. even the despair that gnaws at you while reading it is shallower and more fleeting.
do not take it as a sample of wilbur smith's works. he is far far better than this audiobook is.

The one thing that could be expected to disturb the peace of life at Blandings is the incursion of imposters. And Blandings has imposters like other houses have mice. On this occasion, there are two of them: both intent on a dangerous enterprise.

something less fresh than pg's standard excellence
Revisado: 08-05-08
this is one of the master humourist's lesser offerings.
it sounds a little stale for those who are avid fans. for first meeters with pg wodehouses, it gives a great introdcution.

Historia
India has perhaps the oldest living philosophical tradition in the world. Though both Buddhism and Jainism began in India, its primary influence is the Vedic tradition. The Vedas are the fundamental Hindu scriptures and the basis of the six systems of Indian philosophy. Hindu philosophy affirms an ultimate or universal reality, but it is also individualistic, embracing many alternatives or paths to one reality.

too basic
Revisado: 09-12-07
this is an intro to only the very basic philosophies and they too are not completely covered.
what is more, the listener is unnecessarily confused by the convolutions.
but it is better than nothing

Historia
A chance meeting on a train brought together Lord Ickenham and Bill Oakshott, although being told that the love of his life, Hermione, was engaged to none other than Pongo, Lord Ickenham's nephew, did not make Bill feel like he'd been struck behind the ear. And what with the usual amount of stirring goings-on at Ashendon Manor that include biffings and black eyes and duckings in duck ponds, is there any chance that it will ever work out for poor Bill?

to laugh out loud
Revisado: 07-28-07
this is one of the funniest books ever written. uncle fred is the most loveable old man in literature, with his penchant for seeking out situations that call for ingenious solutions, preferably with impersonations.
here he is truly dynamite.
pg wodehouse has in this book made full use of the interpretations of words by different people, his characters are drawn with sharp lines and more than a little charity.
read it again and again.
do not read it in public places if you are embarrassed by laughing out loud
