Historia
Think of The War of Art as tough love...for yourself. Since 2002, The War of Art has inspired people around the world to defeat "resistance"; to recognize and knock down dream-blocking barriers and to silence the naysayers within us. Resistance kicks everyone's butt, and the desire to defeat it is equally as universal. The War of Art identifies the enemy that every one of us must face, outlines a battle plan to conquer this internal foe, then pinpoints just how to achieve the greatest success.

Makes strong claims with no facts to back up. Beginning was good, but that’s it.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: You thought he was a stodgy scientist with funny hair, but Isaacson and Hermann reveal an eloquent, intense, and selfless human being who not only shaped science with his theories, but politics and world events in the 20th century as well. Based on the newly released personal letters of Albert Einstein, Walter Isaacson explores how an imaginative, impertinent patent clerk became the mind reader of the creator of the cosmos.

Fascinating and Detailed
Revisado: 01-24-23
Einstein’s life and mindset wasn’t surprising. Curiosity, creativity, non-conformity, open mindedness, and passion are keys to having what is generally regarded as a superior intellect. One must be passionately curious of the universe we live in and not let anyone or anything else get in the way of that. I love him without ever having met him.

Carlo Rovelli, a renowned theoretical physicist, is a delightfully poetic and philosophical scientific guide. He takes us to the frontiers of our knowledge: To the most minute reaches of the fabric of space, back to the origins of the cosmos, and into the workings of our minds.

Okay

The reader’s accent makes it harder to understand. It wasn’t as clear or as simplified as I would have liked. At times, it didn’t really explain things that well and was biased too

Reasons and Persons

Historia
Challenging, with several powerful arguments, some of our deepest beliefs about rationality, morality, and personal identity, Parfit claims that we have a false view about our own nature. It is often rational to act against our own best interests, he argues, and most of us have moral views that are self-defeating. We often act wrongly, although we know there will be no one with serious grounds for complaint, and when we consider future generations it is very hard to avoid conclusions that most of us will find very disturbing.

Historia
For centuries, poets and philosophers extolled the benefits of a walk in the woods: Beethoven drew inspiration from rocks and trees; Wordsworth composed while tromping over the heath; Nikola Tesla conceived the electric motor while visiting a park. Intrigued by our storied renewal in the natural world, Florence Williams sets out to uncover the science behind nature's positive effects on the brain.

Good Read For The Uninitiated
Revisado: 12-09-22
Prior to reading The Nature Fix, I was quite knowledgeable and fascinated with our relationship with nature and the benefits it provides. I didn’t learn much additional information from this book, but this book would be great in helping the uninitiated to gain perspective. The narrator wasn’t believably the character who lived the stories and experiences she described. I would also have appreciated less rambling about the same things and details that didn’t matter, and more hard facts, direction, and advice for the reader. Thank you!
