Historia
At the age of 29, Hannah Martin still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She has lived in six different cities and held countless meaningless jobs since graduating college. On the heels of leaving yet another city, Hannah moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles and takes up residence in her best friend Gabby’s guestroom. Shortly after getting back to town, Hannah goes out to a bar one night with Gabby and meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan. Just after midnight, Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. A moment later, Ethan offers to give her a ride.

Interesting Premise
Revisado: 10-17-24
This book had such an interesting premise! I liked all the characters and found the storyline enjoyable. And, of course, Julia Whelan is the best narrator.

Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power. Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan's betrayal. She bides her time, determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril.

Loved the whole series
Revisado: 06-16-23
I don’t listen to a lot of fantasy, but Holly Black drew me in with her complex storylines and interesting characters. The narrator was amazing, as well, bringing to life such a range of characters.

Hard book to read but important
Revisado: 01-28-23
This is an important book about how fear and hardship can lead to terrible prejudice and injustice. It’s set in a world that is similar enough to ours that it can be a tough book to read. Make sure to read the afterword by the author.

Both the Americans and the Soviets want Bluebird, and it is something that neither should ever be allowed to possess.

The first chapters were a little tough to get through, as the heroine dealt with such difficult events, but before long, I was completely engaged with this book. I highly recommend it!

In this riveting collection of stories from acclaimed author Jess Walter, a teenage girl tries to live up to the image of her beautiful, missing mother. An elderly couple confronts the fiction writer eavesdropping on their conversation.

Historia
Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.
