Much better then I expected

I had concerns after reading reviews, but it’s a good story. There is a criticism that they “throw too many characters at you”, it’s a valid point but you get the gist of the story and it appears they are setting up a broader saga of sorts. It works. Villain is strong, good mix of Jedi and Republic without an over load on politics. It’s enticing enough to read the next one. A good start.

If you like history or the NFL, you will love the book. Each man the story talks about has a fascinating tale and it touches on so many others that their lives intersected with. An important historical narrative.

Lots of characters, little characterization

It is a slog. The performer isn’t really a good fit, there are tons of characters and her voice is not exactly the same for each but similar. Makes it hard to follow and boring. I finished it, couldn’t tell you much about it.

Excellent book, great twist

Really good book, enjoyed the characters and the world created. Narrator at time I thought was a computer program. You can easily still enjoy the book, worth the listen or read!

Excellent follow up novel!

John McMahon has followed an amazing rookie book with a follow up that showed great growth. His character development while good in the first one is perfection in the second. The story is intricate but easy to follow, his snappy writing style continues and he will surprise at turn after turn. But don’t read it for that, read it for how he continues to flesh out and enhance the world of PT Marsh and Mason Falls.

In a word, it’s addictive.

Now hurry up and write the 3rd, John.

It’s bad

I felt like I was listening to someone talk about Barbie dolls - the clothes, the hair, the constant changing of clothes. No real tension or revelation. No real tie to the bigger Star Wars saga. Worst Star Wars novel yet. Wished I had loved it....

Excellent New Detective Series

A great writer with a great tag line for the book and the twists and turns don’t disappoint. It’s easy to feel you have it all figured out, but the ending is not what you’d expect.

Another thing about the author, his style is crisp and fast. Very economical with words, so if you like long drawn out description of bullet manufactures this is not for you. McMahon moves the plot and story advancing character while paining enough of a picture for you to feel there vs wasting time on overblown subscriptions.

I enjoyed the narrator as well.
