Historia
It’s the night before Death-Cast goes live, and there’s one question on everyone’s mind: Can Death-Cast actually predict when someone will die, or is it just an elaborate hoax? Orion Pagan has waited years for someone to tell him that he’s going to die. He has a serious heart condition, and he signed up for Death-Cast so he could know what’s coming. Valentino Prince is restarting his life in New York. He has a long and promising future ahead and he only registered for Death-Cast after his twin sister nearly died in a car accident.

Still as haunting as the first
Revisado: 08-06-24
I love the little references to the first novel, that was cute. Still a heart gripping tragedy, but it didn't stab as hard as the first book because I didn't get my hopes up like before. I don't know how I'm going to function with the third novel coming.

Historia
On September 5, a little after midnight, Death-Cast calls Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio to give them some bad news: They're going to die today. Mateo and Rufus are total strangers, but, for different reasons, they're both looking to make a new friend on their End Day. The good news: There's an app for that. It's called The Last Friend, and through it Rufus and Mateo are about to meet up for one last great adventure - to live a lifetime in a single day.

I have got to stop listening to audio books around strangers
Revisado: 07-10-24
I kept wanting for them to not die at the end. I keep listening to audiobooks while I'm building furniture for clients in their homes and for some reason I keep listening to these crazy morbid books that yanks at heartstrings with the force of a loose elevator. Now I'm sobbing in these people house and they can't figure out why and I just show them the book and tell them to give it a listen. It was fun while it lasted... I just wish it had lasted just a little longer.

Historia
Punch Me Up to the Gods introduces a powerful new talent in Brian Broome, whose early years growing up in Ohio as a dark-skinned Black boy harboring crushes on other boys propel forward this gorgeous, aching, and unforgettable debut. Brian’s recounting of his experiences—in all their cringe-worthy, hilarious, and heartbreaking glory—reveal a perpetual outsider awkwardly squirming to find his way in. Indiscriminate sex and escalating drug use help to soothe his hurt, young psyche, usually to uproarious and devastating effect.

This was so validating to listen to in so many ways. I will have to read the hard copy for myself just to really take it all in.

Expansive and painful. You’ll never stop crying, you’ll never stop laughing, you’ll never look at life the same way again. I think I will only ever be able to read it once though.

I was concerned at first but it turned out to be a much better tale than the original and the characters made me feel for them. A fun listen and very nice ending.

God is change. That is the central truth of the Earthseed movement, whose unlikely prophet is 18-year-old Lauren Olamina. The young woman's diary entries tell the story of her life amid a violent 21st-century hell of walled neighborhoods and drug-crazed pyromaniacs - and reveal her evolving Earthseed philosophy. Against a backdrop of horror emerges a message of hope: if we are willing to embrace divine change, we will survive to fulfill our destiny among the stars.

The Struggle The Journey
Revisado: 06-05-22
If it weren't for the narrator mentioning the years of the events, I would have never thought this happened in the 2020s. The story felt more like a prediction than an post-apoc heros journey. I enjoyed it so much but this was terror because of the current social ideas. I'm looking forward to the second novel. I think because I knew there was a second novel I was shocked at the ending. YOU'LL LOVE this novel and won't be able to put it down so take your time and enjoy each word and the world being built for you.

In the Bronx, a Lenape gallery director discovers strange graffiti scattered throughout the city, so beautiful and powerful it's as if the paint is literally calling to her. I don't know it took me so long to actually start listening to this book. It's that in my unread catalog for months, I knew I wanted to listen but I didn't know how bad I needed to listen. This is quickly become one of my favorite books. It is replaced one of my top 10 of all time favorites.
