Historia
A resident of one of LA's toughest neighborhoods uses his blistering intellect to solve the crimes the LAPD ignores. East Long Beach. The LAPD is barely keeping up with the neighborhood's high crime rate. Murders go unsolved, lost children unrecovered. But someone from the neighborhood has taken it upon himself to help solve the cases the police can't or won't touch. They call him IQ. He's a loner and a high school dropout, his unassuming nature disguising a relentless determination and a fierce intelligence.

Just keeps getting better
Revisado: 10-18-13
Where does Guardian rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Not only is this a great addition to the series but it opens up door for the series continuation. the lost fleet series is the best space epic and if made into a movie it could rival Star Trek or Star Wars. the writing is brilliant with plenty of tech without being geeky and more than enough of the human element to draw you in. This is well worth your time to read/listen. Enjoy.
Have you listened to any of Christian Rummel’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was the first series I listen to that was narrated by Christian Rummel but not the last. I have pick several books just because he was the narrator but the lost fleet series is still my favorite by him.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The next great space epic

Dripping with unrealized potentail
Revisado: 07-28-13
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I love space based sci-fi which is what lead me to this series. This story's revolves around a central flawed individual who eventually becomes the unlikely hero. The author does a good job building our hero's past and weaving it into the story. There wasn't any point that I wished we could have sped this along to get to the space battles. Unfortunately it is the space battles where this book falls flat. There is a lot of time devoted to the minute details of the tech, which is cool, but in the end the overwhelming and seemingly invincible enemies are easily turned away.
If you’ve listened to books by Ian Douglas before, how does this one compare?
This is my first Ian Douglas book and where I won't be listening to any more in this series he is a gifted author and I would give another book a listen.

Historia
Historians have long told the story of America’s birth as the triumph of Jefferson’s democratic ideals over the aristocratic intentions of Hamilton. Chernow presents an entirely different man, whose legendary ambitions were motivated not merely by self-interest but by passionate patriotism and a stubborn will to build the foundations of American prosperity and power.

Too long
Revisado: 03-26-08
Hopelessly too long.
This book displays a bias towards Hamilton and his ideas that seem to prejudice any other figures and ideas of the time.
It is obvious that a tremendous amount of research went into the writing of this book. It is tragic that Ron Chernow, a master wordsmith, displays his talents by talking over you instead of conveying his ideas.
I found the subject matter and the book interesting but it did lull at times as Ron dwelled on trivial points. For my money I would recommend the abridged version.
