A black hockey romance? YES PLEASE.

Maleek is a hockey player whose life is turned upside down when he finds himself with custody of his younger half-siblings, Junior and Jules. Maleek didn't have a great relationship with his father, but it doesn't stop him from stepping up to the plate to avoid them being placed in the system. Maleek's toxic girlfriend, Tasha, has made it no secret that she's not trying to care for the kids, so a full-time nanny is needed.

Nuri Knox's passion for teaching has waned after a school shooting took place at her school. She's desperate for a new position with kids, and the nanny position for Maleek couldn't have come at a better time. The kids take to her immediately. I loved seeing how much she cared for them, and how much she put into making sure they were adjusting well, despite some of the personal issues Nuri was experiencing. She was the mother figure the kids needed because Tasha was NOT it.

Maleek and Nuri were so good together. I couldn't clap loud enough once Tasha was out of the scene. Even before Nuri entered the picture, Maleek and Tasha weren't a good fit. I'm glad Maleek finally realized that and went after who he truly wanted, which was Nuri. And it's Alexandria House, so y'all KNOW their chemistry was on FIRE.

This book had so many good parts to it. Nuri and Maleek deserved and worked for the HEA they got! I cannot wait to see which player's book is next!

This was a fun, quick read! Anytime I see Wesleigh Siobhan or Emmanuel Ingram as a narrator, I eat it UP! I loved Joella and Keanu go from a one night stand to realizing their lives were more intertwined than they thought. Their relationship started off in a "transactional" manner, but developed into something neither of them were looking for. The breakup at the end was handled quickly, which I was glad for given that this book was less than 200 pages. Definitely recommend the audio, it was amazing!

This was so sweet! Nova and Guy have been invited to stay in their best friends' condo for the summer. These two meet in the airport when Nova has a cute run-in with Guy's toddler son, Jackson. They don't realize they'll be staying together until Nova's bestie picks them both up from the airport and takes them to the condo they'll be staying in. Guy makes it no secret that he's feeling Nova, especially when he finds out the dude she's been seeing is raggedy and cheating on her. It was hilarious watching Nova trying to deny what she felt for him. It took her a minute to come to terms with how bad her ex was, but once she did, she realized that Guy was treating her the way she deserved to be treated.

Nova's relationship with Guy's son was adorable!! One of my favorite things about single parent romances is watching the children interact with the new love interest. These three were perfect as a little family unit, and I was rooting for them to make it work once the summer ended!

Audio was easy to listen to! Winston James' narration was perfect for Guy's fun personality.

I've been catching up on this author's backlist and have been enjoying everything I've read so far, so not surprised this one was a success!

You must read The Prince's Bride Part 1 and 2 before reading this book.

I have the biggest hangover after finishing this trilogy! I am so in love with Odette and Gale's romance, but also with their journey as King/Queen in this book! They went through a LOT during the year or two after their coronation. From the press to family threatening to pull them apart, to Odette being the nation's first queen of color, I enjoyed every bit of it.

This author's writing was addictive. She had a way of drawing you in from the first book. From then to now, I was so invested. I loved that, in addition to Odette/Gale's POVs, we also got a few POVs from their guards and family members. It helped us to get a rounded view of how various events affected Odette and Gale's relationship/reign.

Even if you aren't a fan of royal romances, I highly recommend giving this trilogy a try. The audio was amazing to listen to, as they were passionate and versatile throughout the series.

You must read The Prince's Bride: Part 1 before reading Part 2.

I have gotten so invested in Odette and Gale's royal journey!! This book picked up six months after the tragic events at the end of Part 1. To avoid spoilers, just know Part 2 dives deeper into the adversity that Odette and Gale will face in the face of Ersovia's long standing traditions. These two had to grow up FAST. I loved seeing Gale take on more responsibility in this book when it came to his royal duties. I loved seeing Odette adapt to the rumors and prove the naysayers wrong by rising to the occasion in her quest to be accepted by the members of Gale's home country.

I did want to smack them because it was obvious (at least to me) who the palace mole was, but it had to be drawn out for dramatics, and it worked.

Literally if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's romance/royal journey was told as a fiction tale, this would fit the bill exactly. The author did not hold back in discussing how some were biased against Odette and Gale from the very beginning due to the color of her skin. I appreciated that she didn't hide that because it was very realistic. That, and how the author dealt with all the difficulties that they faced as a couple is what made this book a standout for me. Odette and Gale loved each other deeply, and seeing a couple work through fights, gossip, and forces trying to tear them apart is how you know their love is real and strong.

Odette and Gale deserved their HEA, and I cannot wait to read the last book!!! The narration, like the first book, was perfection. Wesleigh Siobhan and Shane East truly bring the characters to life.

Flagrant is the romance between longtime couple, Paul (“Polo”) and Kendra. These two have known each other since high school. Paul was a basketball player and Kendra was the daughter of a single mother pastor. Both had their trauma to deal with behind closed doors at home.

Fast forward, and Paul is now a famous basketball player, and Kendra is a stay-at-home girlfriend. During Paul’s career, there have been rumors of him cheating on Kendra, which were true. There have been many instances of infidelity, to the point where Kendra doesn’t even travel to Paul’s away games anymore because of his tendency to take another woman to bed right down the hallway from where Kendra was waiting. Their relationship is toxic, but due to the trauma of their past and Paul saving Kendra when she was younger, they are codependent on each other in a way that is not healthy. Paul is finally getting to a point where he wants to do better, and Kendra is still numb to it all, and is still repressing the events of her past.

A major conflict occurs early in the book that causes Kendra to leave Paul for a few months to finally work on herself, while Paul must face the fallout of his choices. It gives them both time to confront their demons, because there was no way they would be good for each other without being good to themselves first. Particularly Kendra, who is a strong heroine despite what she’s endured as a child.

I get why Kendra and Paul continued to love each other and were willing to work it out, but I’m not sure I would’ve taken Paul back. He ended up being extremely remorseful, and I loved seeing him devastated by Kendra’s absence. He also got some karma towards the end that he deserved.

Forgiveness and healing were the major themes in this book. I’m glad Kendra and Paul were able to work for their HEA, but Paul is not one of my favorite heroes.

rayveon and Stevie had one of the best meet cutes ever! Drayveon is one of the top players on the St. Louis Cyclones basketball team. Stevie is a pregnant single mom trying to make quick money by doing food deliveries. Stevie is called to deliver food to Drayveon’s house, and on his doorstep, she literally goes into labor, and ends up having a quick labor and delivering her baby in one of his spare rooms prior to the ambulance showing up. Needless to say, this was not how Drayveon expected to spend his night, but now that he’s met Stevie and helped her bring her son into the world…he can’t stop thinking about them.

I loved how great of a man the hero was. Stevie was ashamed to tell him that she was down on her luck, but Drayveon was not trying to hear it. When I tell y’all he showed up for Stevie and her son, he showed UP. Whether it was material things, or emotional support, the hero became the partner and father that Stevie absolutely deserved. There was just something that drew the two of them to each other. Watching their romance quietly blossom was beautiful to watch. Their unexpected family unit was adorable and, despite the family drama from Drayveon’s side, I was rooting for them the entire time. Drayveon never let anyone disrespect his woman, and I was HERE for it.

Definitely one of my favorite reads from this author!

Armand got his redemption!

Personal is the final book in the St. Louis Cyclones series, and it has been a ride! Ella and Armand are familiar characters who surprisingly ended up being perfect for each other. Armand, an NBA player, has a history of being volatile, angry and quick to explode. His latest behavior has landed him being traded to the St. Louis Cyclones team, much to his chagrin since his mom's husband (Leland McClain) is on the team as well. Meanwhile, Ella has recently moved to the area for a change of scenery and to be closer to her uncle and his family. She has some trauma in her past that she's still working to overcome, but has made strides over the last few years with therapy and...other coping skills. These two meet during dinner at Armand's mom's house, where the chemistry between them is evident. However, their relationship is not at all what Armand was expecting from little Ella McClain.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that Ella and Armand's romance was a beautiful example of how BDSM/kink can be used for healing purposes. Ella has her reasons for wanting to be in control. Meanwhile Armand discovers that being submissive and learning to view pain in a different manner is beneficial to him in a way he never dreamed of. Of course, their BDSM relationship did not take away from the work that Armand had to do through weekly therapy sessions. The mental health rep was impeccable here because intermittent explosive disorder is more common than I thought. Given how Armand acted in Let Me Hold You, I loved getting to know his character more. He was absolutely redeemed in this book and you could feel the shift in him as the book went on.

I loved everything about Ella and Armand together! EVERYTHING. I'm so sad this series is over, but the McClain family and the St. Louis Cyclones series has been a great reading experience!

Good Lord, even with a few words, this author can draw you in! As an HBCU graduate, I felt all the emotions of Touré and Niomi’s pride as Finley graduates. This novella follows these two at the college’s homecoming. It’s been 20 years since they graduated, and the memory of a shared kiss all those years ago still begs the question - what if?

You could feel the passion between these two, and I loved that they got another chance to finally take their shot with each other! The vibes for this book were just immaculate, and listening to the band during Touré grand gesture had me close to tears cause it truly put me back to my HBCU days.

I’ll definitely be rereading this one! Wesleigh and Jakobi know how to invoke an emotion in their narration that is untouched!

Eeek, that cliffhanger!! Did not see that coming at all.

The Prince’s Bride (Part 1) is the arranged marriage/marriage of convenience tale between Odette, a society heiress and Gale, a royal prince from Europe. The nitty gritty is that Odette needs to get married and have kids to get her inheritance, and Gale’s family needs money after their father’s diagnosis of dementia has led him to mostly squandering royal money…so they need money.

This book is mostly Odette and Gale getting to know each other, despite both protesting the idea of an arranged marriage. They spend time together in Odette’s city (Seattle) basically dating and slowly warm to the idea of committing their lives together. There’s also some family drama that made me want to scream. I need to see how it’s resolved in the next book.

Part 1 ends on a tragic cliffhanger and I am downloading the next book ASAP. The audio was fantastic! Wesleigh Siobhan was perfect for Odette and Shane East’s accent for Gale had me swooning!
