Historia
We see our age as the greatest in human history, filled with seemingly unending originality. Yet such dynamism is not a necessary characteristic of great eras. Among the most long-lasting and stable civilizations was that of medieval Europe. There stasis was achieved, and with it a stability that permitted the development of structured thought and intellectual embellishment of unparalleled degree.

Historia
Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable or to dare greatly. Based on 12 years of pioneering research, Dr. Brené Brown dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and argues that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage. Brown explains how vulnerability is both the core of difficult emotions like fear, grief, and disappointment, and the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, empathy, innovation, and creativity.

well written and spoken well by author
Revisado: 08-04-21
I do not agree with some of the conclusions, but I do like the thought put into this idea. Much of the profanity I believe was unnecessary. It did not help the book whatsoever. To me, it made the book less authoritative and more childish.

Historia
Far from being an engaging fable, the account of Job in the Bible is one of the most historically and scientifically accurate records of the ancient world. Perhaps the oldest book in the Bible, the Book of Job touches on many subjects of science and history. This commentary on the controversial Book of Job is very different from most of the seminary and church teachings so prevalent today, for it attests to the historicity of a man named Job who understood at the end of his life that God cannot be "figured out", but He can most certainly be trusted.

The entire book from start to finish was a joy to listen to. I really paid close attention to the comparisons of Job to Jesus, as well as where they starkly contrasted.

The purpose of studying the Old Testament is to understand God and his redemptive work more fully. However, this goal is complicated by the fact that it was transmitted through a very different language and culture from our own. A Survey of the Old Testament provides an indispensable guide for undergraduate students and other listeners by exploring the literary, historical, and theological issues behind the Old Testament and its various books.

I love how the two authors trade off different sections of the book. They each have their unique perspectives to add to the overall experience of the text.

Reader had great voice! Great book to listen to!

All the chapter numbers were off by one number. Otherwise the whole book was read wonderfully and had proper emphasis during appropriate parts during the reading. The voice inflection helped a lot.

fix chapters, otherwise loved it!
Revisado: 08-01-20
The chapters were labeled wrong for audiobook, so I had to "bookmark" the places of the actual chapters to follow along with my book club. There are six chapters in audiobook. The actual book has 11 chapters. See what I mean? aside from that minor point, the book was excellent to listen to. Well read in its entirety and I thoroughly enjoyed all of it.
