The author grabs you from page 1, as he did with the prequel “Impermanent Universe”, and never lets you go. It’s the type of book that you promise yourself that you will only read one more chapter- only to find yourself way past normal lights out time burning into your budgeted sleep allotment.
SciFi doesn’t quite encapsulate the original ideas in this book and the character development is first class. It’s complex but not overly complicated.
Take this ride- it’s worth it- even if you don’t make your typical bedtime if you pick this up at night!

Having read the paperback I couldn’t resist revisiting the “Impermanent Universe” via audio. Not only was Jacqueline Rendell’s performance first class, but the story also took on a new life when read aloud and I found myself immersed in the story from a completely new perspective and discovered more gems layered within the action packed yet empathetic story.

This book has so many dynamic elements... it’s like a good movie that you can watch more than once, each time coming away with something new. “IU” is SciFi at its absolute best and on the level that we have expect from the leading creative minds entertaining us today.

Read it, listen to it...(not necessarily in that order) Read the follow up “Navigator” and repeat!

I’m not a “political thriller” fan traditionally and I don’t like to risk investing time on a new author. That approach would have been a mistake in regard to “Savage Son”. Carr sets a page turning tempo that is rich with both character development and atmosphere... The “new” author reads far more senior and has certainly applied real world experience, imagination, and sincerity that keeps the readers attention without gimmick.
