Heartbreaking
Revisado: 11-30-24
I wanted to like this book. I loved the characters. I loved the idea of it. But for me, I like books with more balance of highs and lows. This was mostly lows-bad things just kept happening to her until the very very end… it was depressing and the end wasn’t enough of a redemption to make up for it. And I kept feeling like she could have avoided a lot of the pain if she had just stood up for herself and communicated more honestly.

Very well written!
Revisado: 08-20-24
This book contains so much wisdom for teens and is very cleverly written. It’s organized, concise, and entertaining while covering a variety topics that teens and young adults need to learn in order to master living independently. I loved how up-to-date the information was- utilizing and recommending many modern online resources. But my favorite chapter was on car maintenance— I learned so many practical tips that I wished I had known years ago! This is a book worth keeping handy. You can look topics by chapter as you strive to master each area of your adult life.

Historia
Jane is a young New York woman who never seems to find the right man - perhaps because of her secret obsession with Mr. Darcy, as played by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. When a wealthy relative bequeaths her a trip to an English resort catering to Austen-obsessed women, however, Jane's fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become more real than she ever could have imagined. Is this total immersion in a fake Austenland enough to make Jane kick the Austen obsession for good?

A fun and witty romance!
Revisado: 08-20-22
I love the movie and wanted to read the book. Both were hilarious! I did like the movie better though, it seemed they smoothed out the plot better then the book. But full kudos to this writer for coming up with the original idea! My favorite thing about the book however was being able to hear the hilarious inner dialogue of Jane’s thoughts throughout. Her character was very adorable and relatable.

American history is FULL of FAITH & MIRACLES!
Revisado: 07-15-21
I am sooo glad I found this book and so grateful for modern American heros like Tim Ballard who did all the leg work to shine a light on America’s lost, but divine history that is full miracles that I otherwise would never have known about. I loved also learning of the great faith and revelations of our country’s founders, the numerous miracles and divine help they experienced along the way and how it all ties together in our God’s divine plan to gathering scattered Israel.

Historia
You can learn everything you can about how to make women want you and still fail to master the inner game of being a man who naturally attracts women. Some guys even study all kinds of seduction secrets on attracting women, yet they only end up in terrible relationships with low-quality women. Most guys simply don't understand how women think. If you asked the average guy what women want, he may say things like confidence, money, or ridiculous good looks, but all of these things are just the tip of the iceberg.

This man knows almost nothing about women!
Revisado: 12-28-20
I loved his other books. Mr. Bryan’s seams to understand MUCH about what men want from a woman, probably because he is one, but when it comes to claiming to know what the opposite sex actually wants, he is very misinformed and even dangerous.
I liked the part about women being attracted to a man with goals, ambition, and a backbone, but that’s as far as it goes. He briefly mentions at the beginning that a quality man will be sure to “take care of” and “pamper” his lady, but he never explains how to do that and then never brings it up again. The rest of the book is spent on talking about how to be an awesome, ambitious guy. Sure that’s attractive from a distance, but it doesn’t foster a relationship if everything is always about HIM.
He even dares to throw in things like “putting your woman in her place” if she complains to you too much. He clearly hasn’t read “Men are from Mars, Woman are from Venus”, a much better relationship book in my opinion. He spends zero time teaching men how to listen to women, make them feel safe, important, or even how to be romantic. It’s all about joining clubs, being successful, and being the leader that you’re woman wants to “follow”.
My husband also read this book and he has hurt me several times emotionally following its precepts. When I need someone to vent to, he now “puts me in my place” and tells me not to complain to him. This has done nothing but created a wedge between us.
Perhaps he should stick to writing about what men want, and leave what women truly want to a WOMAN!
