Historia
Vella Day brings you another crazy time travel story of a haunted saloon and hidden treasures. The last thing I expected to see today was John, our timeline agent--or whatever he was calling himself these days--in our hometown. Millie, my best friend and time traveling buddy, was thrilled. I was not. John claimed that he needed our help to keep the timeline from falling apart. Why us, you might wonder? He claimed we were good at knitting and asking questions. And where did we have to go? To Dry Gulch, South Dakota. In freaking 1880. Even John admitted that it was a fairly lawless mining ...

Not my favorite
Revisado: 03-13-25
As someone who discovered the first book in the series and enjoyed it, I wanted to finish the series. This one is ok. Not the best. Not the worst. A little below par compared to book two. I only say that because if you have listened to both previous books you will see that something has gone amiss. It seems the author lost the voices and personality she had given the characters of Edith and Millie that had made them great for cozy mystery. In this book Edith and Millie aren’t the same. Suddenly Millie gets “dreamy” over the Time Travel Agent? Edith talks like she is suddenly 20-30 years old. You only remember that they are endearing 70 year old knitters when she mentions it. Otherwise you could think they were much much younger through their actions, language and interactions with the setting and plot.
The voice this time - the worst it’s been. Either this piece is not edited for spelling errors or the voice is struggling to read. Example: macho. He is a macho man. Read as “ma-ko”. Millie became mile at times. To a listener, unless you are focused on the audio and nothing else, like knitting or cooking or walking, these kinds of errors really distract and disrupt the story. There were more “wait, what??” moments to rewind and try again to understand it.

Quirky little cozy mystery
Revisado: 03-12-25
There were so many errors and different pronunciations of the same word that it took away from the story, even things like “use” being pronounced “us”, French names being pronounced different ways throughout interchangeably which made it confusing at times and hard to enjoy.
As a story, this was different from the first in the series. Same main characters but this was more the feel of Magic Tree House meets Quantum Leap. I did not enjoy it for my taste mainly because very well known historical figures were characters which took it far above the previous feel of m cozy mystery with some suspension of disbelief for time travel.
I really had to make myself finish it on principle. I am hoping that the third in the series goes back to what originally worked the first time.

Historia
Vella Day brings you a yarn-spinning, time-hopping, mystery-solving extravaganza! Hi, I'm Edith Emory, just an average book-loving knitter with a passion for collecting knick-knacks. When I stumbled upon a magical talisman at a garage sale, I ended up on a wild adventure. You see, this talisman had the power to transport me back in time, and by chance, I landed in the groovy year of 1969. But don't worry. I wasn't alone. I had my trusty sidekick and doll-collecting best friend, Millie Morris, with me. Together, we're uncovering a mystery that's not just out of this world, but out of this ...

Hard to believe it’s virtual voice!
Revisado: 03-11-25
Edith and Millie are adorable characters and the story was a great little mystery! I was very hesitant to listen as I avoid the virtual voices. I gave it a few minutes and was shocked at the voice. It has intonation, great pace, and very very few errors in words like read in present tense, read past tense. Definitely worth the listen! On to the next in the series!

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Gripping storyline!
Revisado: 09-30-24
It would have been just as great, maybe better, if the graphic sex scenes were cleaned up. It was a great story, and I’m going to begin the second in the series.

I always love to hear a biography through the author’s own reading. Martin Short is an inspiration and hearing about his life, his love and of course Nancy has made me laugh, and cry, and smile, I must say.

Plus, it features exclusive bonus audio of young Neil delivering an adorable speech! That’s audio you won’t hear in any version of this book other than the audiobook!

Legendary in every way!
Revisado: 01-20-22
This is one of my favorite listens. Not only is he a stellar narrator, this format was perfection! Magic meets choose your our adventure meets biography meets humor, with so much love and personality thrown on top. Everything I could have hoped, and even more. I laughed, I felt every emotion, I learned more than I expected and had a lot of fun! This is one that I will need to listen to again, and this time with one of the recipes!
