Historia
2000 Deciduous Trees is an exploration of individual experience selected from Nath Jones's '90s zine, The Skirt. The writing resists losing its balance during a time when gasoline was cheap and no one drove slowly on the cusp of the new millennium. The voice yearns for change. But nothing can be done in a 20-something world where one-night stands get forgotten with execution-style murders.

Witty storytelling and astute observations
Revisado: 02-06-14
What did you love best about 2000 Deciduous Trees?
The observations Ms. Jones makes are fresh and insightful yet they resonate with familiarity.
What does Ryan McDaniel bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narrator captures the mood and inflection of each character in each story in a way that I never would have been able to. The sound quality is excellent.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed this collection of short works. Many of the stories seem to come from Anytown, USA and convey a Midwestern charm. This collection seems to have a "coming of age" nostalgic quality that wasn't sugarcoated or overly romanticized I appreciated that aspect and it added to my listening experience.

Historia
Winner of the 2013 Eric Hoffer E-book Fiction Award, The War Is Language is a destruction of narrative, an experimental collection of flash fiction. These often humorous pieces exist at story's amorphous limit of spoken word and deconstruction. This disordered collection makes a mosaic with cathartic, inflammatory language.

Funny and intelligent shorts and scenes
Revisado: 02-04-14
If you could sum up The War Is Language: 101 Short Works in three words, what would they be?
CaptivatingHumorousIntrospective
Which scene was your favorite?
The Dairy Queen scene was among my favorites, and not just because I share a love of the Reese's Pieces Blizzard with the author.
Any additional comments?
Even though this is a collection of short works, I loved the continuity created by the inner-woven "letters to a fake advice columnist. They give the collection a brilliant sense of connectivity. While not all the language and content would be appropriate for everyone, I found the wit charming and the experiences rang true with many of my own. Ms. Jones is an astute observer whose narrative is quite entertaining. Ryan McDaniel really brings the characters to life with his reading. The sound quality is excellent.

Historia
Once in a generation, a historian will redefine his field, producing a book that demands to be read or heard - a product of electrifying scholarship conveyed with commanding skill. Diarmaid MacCulloch's Christianity is such a book. Breathtaking in ambition, it ranges back to the origins of the Hebrew Bible and covers the world, following the three main strands of the Christian faith.
