Historia
Loosely inspired by a true story, this tender portrait of marriage asks: what do you do when the person you love has to change? It starts with a question, a simple favour asked by a wife of her husband while both are painting in their studio, setting off a transformation neither can anticipate.

I am not sure I really liked this. But they say that the mark of a good book is when you think about it after reading, and I am now about to look further into this.....so?

Historia
For much of her life, Anne Morrow, the shy daughter of the U.S. ambassador to Mexico, has stood in the shadows of those around her, including her millionaire father and vibrant older sister, who often steals the spotlight. Then Anne, a college senior with hidden literary aspirations, travels to Mexico City to spend Christmas with her family. There she meets Colonel Charles Lindbergh, fresh off his celebrated 1927 solo flight across the Atlantic. Enthralled by Charles’s assurance and fame, Anne is certain the celebrated aviator has scarcely noticed her. But she is wrong.

Searched for History after reading
Revisado: 02-12-13
I chose this book, knowing nothing about its contents, and what a spendid read.
If time had allowed I would have read in one sitting.
As the author says at the end. Judge a good book by the research you do after reading. well from only knowing that Charles Lindberg flew an aircraft I now know what made the man who he was, Ihave searched and am looking for more books by this author and others on the subject.

MORE THAN I EXPECTED
Revisado: 01-07-13
Not know anything about this book, I was pleasantly surprised. I just had to know what this was about. I leant a lot about the women of The Kingdom and the menfolk.
I found the discussion with the writer, at the conclusion, to be a surprise and a well received time of listening. Will definitely look for more of Qanta A. Ahmed's book. She writes excelently.

Historia
During World War II, a family finds life turned upside-down when the government opens a Japanese internment camp in their small Colorado town. After a young girl is murdered, all eyes turn on the newcomers. Rennie has just turned thirteen and until this time, life has pretty much been predictable and fair. But the winds of change are coming, and with them, a shift in her perspective and a discovery of secrets that can destroy even the most sacred things. Part thriller, part historical novel, Tallgrass by Sandra Dallas is a riveting exploration of the darkest—and best—parts of the human heart.

Another Winner for Me
Revisado: 10-31-12
Its so good to find books without all the explicit sex murder etc.
This is all left to the reader. I love Sandra Dallas books and I also learn a lot about the history of America. I hadn't heard of the Camps before but she aways leaves me having to find out more. I loved the ending and the reading was excellent.

Historia
At the age of 22, Jennifer Worth left her comfortable home to move into a convent and become a midwife in postwar London’s East End slums. The colorful characters she met while delivering babies all over London - from the plucky, warm-hearted nuns with whom she lived to the woman with 24 children who couldn't speak English to the prostitutes and dockers of the city’s seedier side - illuminate a fascinating time in history.

Keep the Tissues Close
Revisado: 10-30-12
Coming to this book from the TV series, I found it most compelling. Terribly sad at times and horribly stark but true. A remarkable woman a must read, and I hope to find her other books on Audible.

Confusing
Revisado: 10-30-12
Having enjoyed a previous book by this Author I was disappointed. I found the plot rather confusing and it often took me a while to realise where we were in the book. But having said that I found that I had to read to the end because I wanted to know the outcome.
Will try another by this Author but hope I like it more.

Sandra Dallas, best-selling author of The Persian Pickle Club, weaves an intricate and sophisticated tale in New Mercies. But when she travels to Mississippi to claim her inheritance, she finds her eccentric neighbors would rather help her acquire a new husband than reveal the secrets surrounding her aunt’s death.
