Historia
Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

Greatest Audio Book I Have Heard!!
Revisado: 11-01-20
I have listened to many great audio books over the years. This one is the best!
It starts with the writing itself. It is a fascinating story about an amazing man who tragically died too soon. We need the voice of Malcolm X today to raise all the most difficult questions about our society and its history of racism.
Add to that the performance of Laurence Fishburne, who gives a wide range of voices and puts real emotion into them. The listener feels like he or she in on the streets of Harlem in the 1930s, or being preached to by Malcolm X, or sitting across the table from him being challenged to look around and think.
Most excellent!

Historia
Behind today's headlines of billionaires taking over our government is a secretive political establishment with long, deep, and troubling roots. The capitalist radical right has been working not simply to change who rules but to fundamentally alter the rules of democratic governance. But billionaires did not launch this movement; a white intellectual in the embattled Jim Crow South did.

A Must Read! (as other reviewers have noted)
Revisado: 07-13-20
This is a must read for anyone who wants to understand the current direction of America.
WARNING: This is scary stuff!!
James Buchanan is the theorist whose ideas have been bankrolled by the Koch brothers to try to take over and cripple American democracy. Buchanan was the idea man behind Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship in Chile. That is the model they want for America.
One goal is to take over the judicial system with judges trained by the Federalist society. That has been relentlessly pursued in recent years.
The ultimate goal is create rule by a wealthy aristocracy, with government completely hobbled from doing anything to restrict it. And then to rewrite the Constitution to make it impossible to change anything.
Donald Trump is just the side show distracting us. This book describe the main show many are not seeing.

Historia
As President Trump’s national security advisor, John Bolton spent many of his 453 days in the room where it happened, and the facts speak for themselves. The result is one of the few White House memoirs to date by a top-level official. With almost daily access to the president, John Bolton has produced a precise rendering of his days in and around the Oval Office. What Bolton saw astonished him: a president for whom getting reelected was the only thing that mattered, even if it meant endangering or weakening the nation.

The value of details.
Revisado: 07-13-20
Well, luckily I could set my MP3 player on FAST and get through the book in far less time.
The most shocking revelations I already knew from the news before I read this book. However, what I found to be especially disturbing was all the detail on how Trump's views are constantly shifting back and forth, sometimes hourly. As Bolton says, Trump makes policy based on "whim and impulse" and those are always in flux, This was not news to me, but to see it laid out it such detail was frightening.

Historia
Manfred von Richthofen (1892 - 1918), also widely known as the Legendary Red Baron, was a German fighter pilot with the Imperial German Army Air Service during World War I. He is considered the ace of aces of that war, being officially credited with 80 air combat victories, more than any other pilot. The Red Baron only wrote one book, his "autobiography", Der Rote Kampfflieger. This book was written just before he was killed, and it details his meteoric rise from a cavalryman to one of the most well-known fighter pilots of all time.

The narrator needed to pause more at the end of each section and then after giving the title of the next section. It all ran together.

Historia
To get a sense of the kind of prestige that Claude Monet's reputation has within the art world, one need only learn that his Le Bassin Aux Nympheás (1919) - from his series of paintings featuring water lilies - sold for the equivalent of more than $70 million. This is an incredibly staggering price, especially considering that early in his life, Monet had been so poor and debt-ridden that some of his paintings were taken from him by creditors.

Pronunciation Problems
Revisado: 12-26-17
The book is well-written but the narrator does not know his French. Edgar Degas does not rhyme with Las Vegas. Gauguin and the river Seine did not sound like what I learned in French class. Also the English words erudite and anathema did not sound correct.
