Historia
A gruesome murder in London reveals a sinister plot to uncover a two-thousand-year-old secret. For decades, the Keepers guarded these Hallows, keeping them safe and hidden and apart from each other. But now the Keepers are being brutally murdered, their prizes stolen, the ancient objects bathed in their blood. Now, only a few remain. With her dying breath, one of the Keepers convinces Sarah Miller, a practical stranger, to deliver her Hallow—a broken sword with devastating powers—to her American nephew, Owen.

Not what I was expecting
Revisado: 01-23-12
Would you listen to The Thirteen Hallows again? Why?
I am torn on wethere I will listen to this book again or not. Though it is not written for younger audiences I find that the added adult themes are a bit overly present. The writing and story telling are high quality but tend to dwell to much on the dreggs of society.
What did you like best about this story?
I found the underlying story of the book very intreeging and intereesting. I enjoy it when authors include history in the story they tell even when the history is myth and legend based.
What does Kate Reading bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Kate is a good reader and her vaoice tone and acting ability fit the story very well. She adds depth and emotion to the book that help the reader/listener understand what is happening.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
N/A not sure I would want to see this a theator.
Any additional comments?
Not a book I would recommend to youth. I am a big Micheal Scott fan and have enjoyed much of his past work. This books adult edge is a bit of a turn off for me but others may enjoy that edge tot the book.

Historia
Not so very long ago, Eragon - Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider - was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders. months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can.

Good book with a weak ending.
Revisado: 01-23-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. I am a fan of both the Narator and the author of the Inheritance Cycle. This is the climactic ending of the series (for now).
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would have fixed the ending. I think that the author instead of letting the story flow to it's natural conclusions forced the ending to fit the forshadowing from the previous books. It felt very contrived instead of the natural flow the rest of the series has.
What does Gerard Doyle bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I have both read and listened to the book and find that I enjoyed both experiences. Gerald Doyle is a master story teller that brings to life the characters and the setting of the book. He fits the emotions of the characters into his story telling beautifully that helps you care and imerse yourself into the characters wonderfully.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There are scenes in the book that pull out strong emotion and people are put under extreme circumstances that must be addressed and delt with.
Any additional comments?
After finishing the book and talking to friends and family that have also read the story I find that most people are in agreement that 9/10 of the book is fantastic but that the end leaves the reader confused and a bit let down. I still recommend the book to all readers of Fantasy as it is a strong story line and good writing and story telling.

Good book
Revisado: 01-23-12
What did you love best about Magyk?
I like the approach the auther took to the subject of magic and how it helps tie in with the fate of the characters involved.
What other book might you compare Magyk to and why?
I found that this book reminded me a little of the Diane Duane
Which scene was your favorite?
When we learn the truth about who the characters really are.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I found a few of the situations humerous and you become attached and care about the characters in the book.
Any additional comments?
Enjoyable book and a good start to the series. The book strts out a bit slower than I would have liked but then picks up good momentum throughout the rest of the series.
