Historia
The Lords of Creation rule the Nine Worlds through its control of the ultra-advanced technology that has permitted the colonization of the entire solar System. More gods than men, the Lords of Creation have cheated Death itself. But although they rule the solar system with their god-like scientific knowledge, there are even more powerful forces to be feared lurking out in the dark depths of space. And when an unthinkably terrible enemy that rules a vast network of dead stars and planets comes to the Nine Worlds, it falls to them to stop it, though entire worlds may perish.

Surprising Story -- Amazing Plot
Revisado: 02-28-25
I wasn't expecting what I heard. I was expecting a by the numbers scifi epic about good and bad people. Instead, I got a story that was both engaging and amazingly surprising. The narration was really great, but what was better is the story. It felt like an old story because of how the language was used, but it was also very modern. The dichotomy between life and death, living and undead, all fighting for dominance at a level of technology that plainly made everyone a god was just so much fun. I couldn't stop listening, and at the end, I was satisfied with the results. I definitely would recommend to anyone. Be sure to hang on, because the author just dumps you into this universe, and it is within the context of what is happening that you begin to understand ... which was so amazingly refreshing.

The Reaper Grows
Revisado: 02-03-25
I’ve listened to the entire Reaper series, and I have enjoyed it all. The very end of this series was truly satisfying, because Caine had become the man he was meant to be … and mini bears.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Optimist Exploration
Revisado: 11-22-24
Andy Weir once again creates a robust story about a single individual surviving against the odds. More than once does our intrepid protagonist faces nearly fatal danger, but through skull sweat and ingenuity, he perseveres, overcomes, and survives.
Oh yeah, and it’s also a first contact story … and about friendship … and collaboration … and valor.
An absolute jewel. Definitely one of my favorite stories.

Great Immigrant Story
Revisado: 10-09-24
Without giving anything away, this story really got to me. As someone who immigrated into this country because of the hope of a better tomorrow, I can relate to this tale. The "What if ..." aspect, especially in dealing with immigrants, was really thought provoking. There might be people who will not like this story, because it might hit too close to home for them, but for the rest, it's worth the listen.

Great Ending to the Series
Revisado: 09-06-23
I binge listened the entire Discovery Series. The Cold War elements of the story were the most compelling, and while some of the elements about the broad strokes of each culture (American, Russian/Soviet, Chinese) were a bit hard to take sometimes, the overall story was truly enjoyable.
Some other reviews talk about the rushed ending. I thought it was a good ending, since the main story was not about the actual first contact, but how humanity dealt with the ever-growing threat that came from the different discoveries the scientist made. Once humans figured things out, the ending shows how the alien threat was addressed by mankind.
It's definitely worth the listen.

Historia
Hundreds of years ago, the last humans on Earth boarded the Exodus Fleet in search of a new home among the stars. After centuries spent wandering empty space, their descendants were eventually accepted by the well-established species that govern the Milky Way. But that was long ago. Today, the Exodus Fleet is a living relic, the birthplace of many, yet a place few outsiders have ever visited. As many Exodans leave for alien cities or terrestrial colonies, those who remain are left to ponder their own lives and futures.

A joy, as always
Revisado: 07-21-23
I just finished listening to this wonderfully written book, dealing with the regular lives of regular people in a most unusual place. Becky Chambers has a gift with her story telling and her ability to make you care for people and their lives. Her stories make me laugh, think, and sometimes weep with sympathy for all that happens to the protagonists.
Yes, nothing huge happens. It doesn’t need to, because we participate in the transformation of lives. Even a tragedy becomes a source for good in this story.
I couldn’t recommend it more. It’s just a beautiful book about everyday individuals going about their days, having their lives transformed.

Swoon and Sway, I got the vapors!
Revisado: 09-30-22
I'm a fan of Charlie Cochet. I have listened to her series about the shapeshifter police force, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Now, I got to listen to Love in Spades, and it was a fun ride. Charlie is amazing at writing stories, and Greg Boudreaux narration together made my listen most enjoyable. It was a fun, thrilling ride full of laughs and sexy times. At one point, I had to pull of the road so I could laugh and enjoy the amazing flirting shenanigans of our heroes. I definitely recommend this story.

Tons of Tears, Tons of Laughs
Revisado: 01-09-18
Terry Pratchett’s last book. A little darker than I expected, but also a great story. Our last sojourn to the Discworld, and a fond farewell to a land that sometimes seems more real than this realm.
There were a few times when I wept, and then I would find myself laughing even while I was crying, because Terry Pratchett handled this last Aching story with love and wit.
