Exponentially dull

I have a child recently diagnosed with high functioning autism, so I am very interested in the subject. The narrator of this book is either AI or the most robotic dull person I’ve ever listened to. This book and narrator could not hold my attention for even 10 minutes and I have tried repeatedly restart this book.

Riveting murder mystery!

I grew up adjacent to the world that Jason describes in his novel. Being Episcopalian in the Deep South was a widespread experience depending on congregation and the currently employed youth minister.
I think the most commonly shared experience though is that we were all teenagers at some point. We were all confused, terrified of ourselves, terrified of others and worried if we were good people or not.
This story captures that perfectly through a lens of simultaneously adequate and inadequate support structures. People that want the best for the protagonist and simultaneously doing him great emotional harm. It captures life and the joy that you can experience that you realize you deserve to be loved and are capable of loving.
I left feeling hopeful and rejuvenated.
