This book is one of those that I have scribbled notes throughout, capturing clips of the audio, while spending mornings sitting quietly drinking coffee and staring out the window. And while I’m thankful for the bits of wisdom captured in these stories, I also want to credit narrator, Adam Riley, for his ability to bring characters to life in a way that gave them personality so that I was able to imagine the conversations that I might have with them as well. In a way, the audiobook had its own life and personality and I imagine listening to it again so that I might imagine a return to remote Japan and drink tea with friends.

Make It Stick does a good job of introducing us into how people learn best under a variety of conditions and environments. While there is a section devoted to the tactics of learning, the meat of the book builds a foundation (told through several use cases and supporting research) that makes those tactics employable. I found that one benefit of listening to this book, rather than reading it, is that I was highly engaged in this arc which kept me from skipping directly to the tactics which would have been a huge mistake for my own learning. I look forward to using the insight of the book to make my current and future learning endeavors much stronger than they have been.
