Great story, irritating narration performance.
Revisado: 03-08-23
As many others have said, the story is great. The dance between the current time and what leads Kendra to England is a good set up and helps us to understand her. There are some parts of 1800's speech that seem to be used just to prove that we aren't in the 21st+ century (mayhap was a bit archaic by then, but darned if nearly every single character uses the word!). The narration performance is painful. PAINFUL. The fact that nearly every review says the performance and narration is bad should indicate to the publisher and author that the narrator should be replaced. It was a painful listen at first, but once i sped up the narration to ~1.2 or 1.3 it got a bit better.

So many questions
Revisado: 09-02-17
Did Nicola Barber do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
There are several male characters and they get a bit confusing.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
My reaction wasn't extreme. I enjoyed the book overall. I still have many "WHY" types of questions. I love time travel books and there is a bit of a gap for me with this one. I liked it, but I feel a little... unsatisfied... with some of the overall story.

More action and intrigue
Revisado: 09-02-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Ice Kissed to be better than the print version?
I enjoy the performance, and have not read the print version, so this isn't really a fair question.
Have you listened to any of Eileen Stevens’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have only listened to this series. I do like her style for this book.
Any additional comments?
This 2nd novel in the series adds more action, but again, it feels very slow in unfolding/ I am still intrigued and want to see what happens next.

Can't wait for the next one(s)
Revisado: 09-02-17
What made the experience of listening to Frostfire the most enjoyable?
Excellent performance. Her accent added the Canadian feel when necessary and the faux British as well. Story is good, although I sort of want a bit more action or plot unfolding.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
The story moves slowly enough that I was fine listening in chunks as I was driving.

Historia
Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother's mysterious death, he's lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers. One day, he's tracked down by an uncle he barely knows - a man his mother claimed was dangerous. Uncle Randolph tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god. The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday.

Performance nearly ruins this book
Revisado: 10-06-15
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I'll be honest - I'm only at Chapter 8.
I love Rick Riordan, and have been waiting for this to be released. I eagerly downloaded it this morning and started listening. Go buy the book and read it yourself.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I'm at Chapter 8, but I am liking the story. I'm confused, but I'm supposed to be.
Would you be willing to try another one of Christopher Guetig’s performances?
No. This performance made me nearly return the audible and just buy the book. I drive a lot and listen to books as I drive, so I can get through more of my reading list. I don't know if the idea was to make the narrator sound like a teenager, but it is simply awful. I can't decide if he sounds drunk, drugged, or is just slow for effect. I keep telling myself that it will get better, or that the story is worth it. I'm trying.
