Heartwrenching
Revisado: 07-18-23
Carrying a torch for your first love is a reality for many women. It can prevent you from fully loving the truly good men in your life. This heroine Michaela needed a nearly fatal accident to appreciate fully the real love in her life.
Despite the too syrupy dialogue, I loved the story and the emotional intelligence of it.
The narrator was good at male voices but terrible at women and children’s voices.

Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Heartbreaking. Truths
Revisado: 02-06-23
Loved this story and wonder how Kingsolver could capture the amazing voice of this young boy/man Damon Copperhead. The characters were sadly believable and the expose of the tragedy of young and old addicted to drugs like OxyContin prescribed by doctors so casually outraged me!
II’ve read and loved all of Barbara Kingsolver’s novels and this one did not disappoint!
