She advocates holistic treatments which is fine but at times pushes too hard as if embracing old treatments is going to be the final revelation. Okay she's hopeful until she jumped off cliff appeal to authority by using an out of context study that was more applicable to electroconvulsive therapy in acupuncture, something I admit to enjoying, to validate reiki. The practice of energy field manipulation which has NEVER been validated as even existing let alone as a legitimate therapy. Several frauds tried to claim the $1m prize from the James Randi Foundation with energy healing. The lack of a winner speaks for itself, there are no results produced under laboratory conditions. At best it's a form of no contact touch therapy, which. can be used to help process trauma, but this isn't how she addressed it. Citing a UCLA study without context in the claim and pushed the institution to make the audience accept the claim study unread.

Then she doubles down with the background concept of reflexology without even trying to validate it, but depends on the audience to infer the validity. Then loops back to feedback which was considered woo, the legit, then split into a form of conscious awareness of ones biological responses (legit) and being able to alter your body with positive vibes aka The Secret (woo) but she doesn't even try and touch on that fact instead using the implied legitimacy of one recognized aspect to carry the entire concept. This is how con artists and conspiracy nuts hook new fish, dangle a bit of truth, add a bit of something that sounds true enough, then lump on the BS they are already ready to buy into. Suffice to say this was where I stopped.

The advice up to that point was excellent, if very poorly delivered. Sound quality is terrible, delivery to a shotgun mic or unfiltered and from far enough away you get plenty of distortion, room noise, chair and cord thumping, and TONS or ambient echo. Do not listen with headphones/earbuds, it's ASMR levels low and you'll blow out your ear drums the second you play anything else. She talks at a speed better reserved for people who are also students of psychology or therapy and familiar with what she is talking about. Put it on 75% or you will have to back track A LOT. The excess of profanity is often too much, there not to punctate a sentence but because this comes across like it was her doctoral thesis and the professor told her the language was unprofessional, so she doubled down in spite and just comes across as excessively crude and beligerent at times. Which as someone who has sharp emotional response to certain abusive words made this a hard listen.

Fine as a TV show watched from across the room, as behind the vocal recording is a lacing of nearly constant binaural audio during the first segment, which I'm sensitive to. The tinitus tone is also used when Hana is talking about the traumatic injury also caused pain spikes from using in-ear headphones. There are quality transitions but the moments between Hana and her interviews is stark in the volume balancing as often as it is equalized.
There is also an inconsistent use of music as the same person can be done in just room tones where another segment has a song inserted, play through, silent, then start up again as if Hana is mentally telling the interviewee to hurry up their boring story so they can switch to the tension music. It's a level of music based emotional manipulation that makes me say Hana if you were gored with the melon ball story why did you even bother include it and flood it out with sitcom puttering around music.

Cannot stand characters that are self destructively stubborn. I get the familial background establishing behavioral patterns but I'm done when it's listening to someone trying and pretending they didn't do something we just heard them talking to themselves for the last literal half hour they were about to do, knowing there were consequences.
If doesn't help there has been no substantive world building. Just meaningless jargon we're expected to hold onto as more jargon is piled on for an implied pay off. If the background is going to be told nonlinearly it's not well set up. If it's going to be told through exposition I double done because the exposition so far is a boring slog through an emotionally undeveloped mind and I already had to live through that.

I shouldn't be wanting the protagonist to be dead via gory mutilation this badly half an hour in. I've read some stories where you want the lead character to get some serious comeuppance or even accept their end and replacement mid way through the story but this character was insufferable. I don't expect instant woodsman but this character is sympathy repellent. I've got plenty of other stories to read with less blubbering crass idiots so this one is getting the heave ho.

this is a memoir/autobiography that pushes a bootstrapped mindset which is fine for some people but is not a viable reality for many and makes the stories even more pointless when it's trying to give life advice about sacrificing for your passion when many people have to even find their passion.
ps she's a scientologist and while is do not hold most individuals for the behavior of the church I cannot support anyone who I know will funnel money into a dangerous cult .

DNF Slower than a tar drip experiment and that was before the insufferably slow narration style that pauses ....between ...every ...single ....sentence. which is just compounding the fact the author and narrator are the same so the drawn out style is magnified.
Stopped when the two male leads were in a bar apparently after a prank that I just I spent over half an hour of my life being ploddingly painfully narrated at with all the engagement of tweezing nose hairs. The very next chapter is Guy see the monster but these two men are so freaking boring I don't even know which of them that is. I gave this narration over two hours and have gotten less story development than if I spent than same time watching game if thrones. The next 12 hours of the story can be orgasmicly engaging but the style he could be yelling me the raunchiest bodice ripper this side of a Fabio collection and I would still be checking the time remaining. I don't understand how people rave about this but then again I don't read Jane Austin books either so I guess this was just not my flavor of horror.

Big foot is real in this story but most of it is dedicated to the characters getting ragdolled so hard but surviving it's like they are in the fast and furious franchise. Lackluster voice acting by someone with good equipment but no range who finally gives up when she doesn't have to play at a male timber and switches between kinda of whiney and want to rip my ear buds out whiney. Poor sense of timing kills all pacing, immersion, and suspense. You can tell she got a flat rate for the gig and just knocked it out over an afternoon.
Could not get invested in the slightest and even as background noise to my day it was plodding. This has all the earmarks of a contract obligatory release, characters with the depth and function of cardboard paintball targets because the author didn't care for their story so why should we.

Exceptional theatrical rendition of a masterful fantasy. A tad jarring at times as different chapters have wildly different tones but each is immersive with high quality sound engineering and professional voice and music performances.

Larry once again self inserts himself into a Gary Stu puppet to be the cosmicly chosen preternaturally capable hero. Could not finish as he spent more time gushing over weapon specs in a way that would have a Guns&Ammo product reviewer to keep it in his pants, constantly breaking the story flow MID FIGHT, and alternately giving cow eyes at the female lead who themselves is just a female version with a voice actor whobcan't keep a steady accent on to save his life, than the actual scenes going on around the lead. I gave Larry the chance to organically describe the weapon/ammo and 5 hours in he finally tries and still drags the reader out of the pivotal moment of the scene by requiring the reader to envision an entirely different scene to describe what is happening.

The background characters are single descriptor cardboard figures flushed out just enough to serve a function in the moment to advance the story exclusively for Owen. Again chances for organic story and character development turned into just another instance for Larry to verbally fondle a gun, ballistic, or explosive that has been taped or draped on said cardboard cut outs.

This is not good writing. This is why you didn't get the Hugo nod Larry, not any 'woke agenda against the right'. This writing is boring, basic, pedestrian, and littered with so many constant self insert deprecation moments I can see Larry standing in the corner kicking at the dirt with his toes going " garsh, uh-huyuk, yah think she likes me." that the reader starts yelling at Larry to get on with it.

Asking for a refund because I'm not going to waste my time with a deluded overpowered self insert super hero fantasy wrapped around the author's firearm wishlist I can read for free on FF.Net
