Historia
Feya Broon, a Scottish half Gypsy, knows what it is to go hungry. Trapped in the Edinburgh tenements with a father lost to his past and only the faded memory of her mother's faith, Feya is desperate to provide for her siblings. When an ill-conceived plan leads to thievery, she finds herself in the last place she'd ever want to be - captured by a palace guard. But there's something about this man that tears at every preconceived notion she's ever had about the haughty English.

Historia
When Morgan Shaw crept into the hold of an old pirate ship replica at San Diego's annual Tall Ship Festival, her only intention was to avoid the guy who had just dumped her and who was now boarding the ship with two women on his arm. What she didn't expect was to wake up aboard a real pirate ship 300 years in the past. But of course, it wasn't real. Her wealthy father had obviously staged it all in an effort to get her mind off her upcoming chemo. Or had he?

Very Enjoyable!
Revisado: 10-21-15
Would you consider the audio edition of A Grand Design to be better than the print version?
Having not read the print version, I can only say that I REALLY enjoyed the audio edition. The narration was clear and the voice was perfectly toned as to allow easy following of the story.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved Alyssa. As the heroine, I felt as if I knew her the best of all the characters. The author skillfully brought this character to life in a perfectly relatable way.
What about Kristin Kalbli’s performance did you like?
I loved how easy her voice was to listen to. The story came alive under her soft cadence, and the plot flowed smoothly with her voice at the helm.
Who was the most memorable character of A Grand Design and why?
Again, I'd have to say Alyssa. While the other characters were diverse and held their own appeal, I identified with Alyssa much more. Her personality is similar to mine, and this created a memorable connection.
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed this story. The narration was very well done and beautifully brought out the wonderful plot Amber Stockton weaved. I'd love to hear more of Kristin's work as well as Amber's. It was well worth my time!

Revisado: 06-01-15
Where does Haunting Joy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I loved this book! The performance was expertly done, which drew me into the story. I'd say this book is one of the best I've listened to for its ease of understandability and clarity of presentation.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Haunting Joy?
Well, as embarrassing as it might be, the moment when Joy left the car in neutral was one of the most memorable moments. And this is only because I did the same thing!
Which character – as performed by Stephanie Ballard – was your favorite?
I loved Joy. I saw so much of myself in her. She brought me back to my een years.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Sometimes life surprises you in the most mysterious ways.
Any additional comments?
Haunting Joy is the first book I've had the pleasure of reading from Lena Goldfinch. Even though I'm an adult, I really enjoyed this YA fiction story. In fact, after finishing it, I quickly went to Lena's website to see what books I could read next!
Lena has a strength of developing relatable characters that you can't help but fall in love with. As the story progressed, I began to see so much of myself in the main character of Joy. I was swept back into my own high school years, and the accuracy in which Lena presented the mindset of a teenager was spot on. So many memories of my own youth were brought out, and I loved it!
With the strength of character development, Lena wove a tale that is sure to please and keep you going until the end. I highly recommend this book to both young adults and beyond. I know I'm glad I was able to meet Lena Goldfinch through this book, and I'm very ready to read more from her!
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Engaging Story!
Revisado: 06-01-15
Would you listen to Aire again? Why?
Yes! There was so much action, that I feel as though I might have missed something. I'd love to listen again and glean even more connections to the plot and characters.
What other book might you compare Aire to and why?
I was slightly reminded of The Princess Bride for the historical fantasy aspect.
What about Tara Millette’s performance did you like?
The voice really matched the story. I found her easy to listen to and felt she delivered the emotion needed to bring the story to life.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Engaging twists amidst a tender love story.
Any additional comments?
Aire by Lena Goldfinch was an absolute delight. Who doesn't enjoy a historical fantasy with intrigue, royalty, dashing heroes, and forbidden love? Goldfinch is sure to satisfy as she weaves a tale full of action that keeps you turning the pages.
Although the story contained the predictable love story, Goldfinch balanced out the expected with colorful characters and interesting plot twists. At times, however, these twists and action sequences seem to go on a bit long, but through the exchanges the characters are brought to life. One of Goldfinch's strengths is her ability to present strong, realistic characters that resonate with the reader. I came away from this book feeling as if I had truly met some wonderful new people, and hated to say goodbye.
I highly recommend Goldfinch's work. You will find Aire a delightful read that will leave you wanting to read more from this author!
