Predictable but fun
Revisado: 05-22-18
For a long time I wasn’t keen on reading this book (as I’m not a sci-fi fan) but I had read so many good reviews on the Lunar Chronicles that I decided to give it a try. At first the book was hard to get into but after 2 hours of listening, I was sold. The narrator did an amazing job with the characters especially Iko. I really liked the protagonist “Cinder” and root for her enough to follow her story in the sequel.

Historia
Two days before Christmas 1996, the broken, battered body of Sophie Toscan du Plantier was found outside her vacation home in West Cork, a serene region on Ireland’s idyllic southern coast. Decades later, no one has been charged with the murder, but the aggrieved inhabitants of West Cork are convinced they know who did it - and he still lives among them.

Toilsome to listen to after the first 4 chapters
Revisado: 04-16-18
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Sadly no. I was intrigued by the first 4 chapters but afterwards it just dragged on and on. I had to skip to the last chapter just to get to the end. This Audible would've made a bigger impact if it was condensed to 4 hours max. I liked the format, the music and overall eerie feel of West Cork though.
What was most disappointing about Sam Bungey and Jennifer Forde ’s story?
Too much focus on the prime suspect and less on the victim and her family. I found Ian Bailey to be boring and irritating. His narcissistic attitude made me not sympathise with him even if he was innocent. The other frustrating thing about the story was that there was no real conclusion.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Not if Ian Bailey is the star.
Any additional comments?
I gave it a listen for free but I was still disappointed by how slow the story was. I kept waiting for something big to happen but it didn't. It just went back and forth and ended without a conclusion. Who was the murderer? We'll never know for sure.
