Historia
Vowing to make a fresh start, Sarah McAdams has come home to renovate the old Victorian mansion where she grew up. Her daughters, Jade and Gracie, aren’t impressed by the rundown property on the shores of Oregon’s wild Columbia River. As soon as they pull up the isolated drive, Sarah, too, is beset by uneasy memories - of her cold, distant mother, of the half-sister who vanished without a trace, and of a long-ago night when Sarah was found on the widow’s walk, feverish and delirious.

If you buy this book you are a moron
Revisado: 03-01-15
Would you try another book from Lisa Jackson and/or Joyce Bean?
Absolutely not. This was one of the worst books I've ever listened to.
What could Lisa Jackson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I don't think this book is redeemable.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Joyce Bean?
Someone who didn't whine or try to do a husky male.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
None.
Any additional comments?
At first, I thought this was a young adult ghost story and I wondered what possessed me to buy it. Then it became an annoying tale of an unlikable, very dysfunctional family. There is only one murder that happens in the time-frame of the book and no one seems to care. I am embarrassed to admit that I listened to the whole thing. Trust me, nothing happens to make it worthwhile. If you buy this moronic book, don't say I didn't warn you.

Steven James' Christy Award-nominated crime thriller pits FBI Special Agent Bowers against a serial killer who enjoys torturing women. After visiting the mountain vistas where the murderer posed his dead victims, Bowers receives a taunting call from the "Illusionist." Although Bowers gets close, his insidious foe continues to elude him.

Ridiculous Plot and One-dimentional Characters
Revisado: 05-08-13
What disappointed you about The Pawn?
The plot is so overly complex and unrealistic to be laughable. The main "good guys" don't foster much empathy and the main "bad guys" don't make any sense. A twisted Jonestown survivor, an evil Governor, a billionaire biotech guy, a psychopath helper, a copycat, the evil CIA cover-up, masters of torture, perfect marksmen, evil geniuses, zombie cult followers murdering their children, dysfunctional FBI teams, genius step-daughter. Stupid, one-dimensional characters. I can't believe anyone liked this book.
What could Steven James have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Not become a writer.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator didn't have much to work with.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
If the author had just stuck with one "bad guy", like the Jonestown survivor, it might have been more interesting.

Historia
Distinguished British man of letters J. R. Ackerley hardly thought himself a dog lover when, well into middle age, he came into possession of a German shepherd named Tulip. To his surprise, she turned out to be the love of his life, the “ideal friend” he had been seeking in vain for years. My Dog Tulip is a bittersweet retrospective account of their 16-year companionship, as well as a profound and subtle meditation on the strangeness that lies at the heart of all relationships.

Quirky Book for True Dog Lovers
Revisado: 04-16-12
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would recommend this for someone who is a true dog lover. The author is a little weird in his obsession with having his dog Tulip mated.
What does Ralph Cosham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The proper British accent and attitude.
Do you think My Dog Tulip needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No, we know enough about Tulip.
