Amazingly Heartbreaking Read

That ending, was such a surprise I didn’t see that coming. It was suspenseful from beginning to end. Primarily dual timelines, but very easy to keep up with. The Johnson family experienced so much tragedy and loss. What do you do when your first love / love of your life returns? This book is definitely one of my best reads of 2025!

Outstandingly Suspenseful!

This hooked me from the beginning and kept my attention all the way through. I was reading each short chapter anxiously waiting to see what was going to happen next, while my heart was breaking for Joseph and Saint. Such a wonderfully amazing book! The narration of the audiobook was fabulous! And now I cannot wait to read another book by Chris Whitaker “We Begin at the End.”

Yes, this book totally lives up to the hype. I absolutely loved it and kicking myself for waiting so long to read it. It’s sad and funny and heartwarming and hopeful. So great how Phoebe ended up having moments with each member of the family. Lila got on my last nerve, but she playing that annoying character perfectly. And her mom was out of this world! I always love a book set in New England, hearing all the familiar names Pawtucket, Tiverton, Newport! I can see how this was one of the best books of the year!

Quick short chapters, kept your attention throughout the book.

I really liked the ensemble cast of narrators. You were able to really dive into the different characters. The story moved at a fast pace with short chapters, but not so fast that you would get lost. Pretty action packed storyline, no lulls in the story at all.

Audio performance was superb as usual. Always love the story of rich people behaving badly. Great writing, since I truly despised Leslie and Bull. Appreciated the secret romance between Coco and Lamont. I enjoyed this as Elon’s last novel, but honestly it didn’t hit me emotionally as much as Golden Girl or 28 Summers.

So not what I was expecting. It was like 21 Jump Street meets 90210 with Princes. Very suspenseful and definitely keeps your attention. The narration with the many different actors is great!
