Historia
Mrs. Sookie Poole of Point Clear, Alabama, has just married off the last of her daughters and is looking forward to relaxing and perhaps traveling with her husband, Earle. The only thing left to contend with is her mother, the formidable Lenore Simmons Krackenberry. Lenore may be a lot of fun for other people, but is, for the most part, an overbearing presence for her daughter. Then one day, quite by accident, Sookie discovers a secret about her mother's past that knocks her for a loop and suddenly calls into question everything she ever thought she knew about herself, her family, and her future.

Inspirational, and fun to listen to!
Revisado: 03-07-14
If you could sum up The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion in three words, what would they be?
Inspirational, Educational, Fun
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the characters best. I would have liked to have known every one of them. I had to remind myself that they were fictional.
Have you listened to any of Fannie Flagg’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to Fannie Flagg before and this was another wonderful performance.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Just as I do not need to spend time with friends and loved ones 24/7, I did not feel a need to spend time listening 24/7. In fact, I wanted it to last as long as possible so I would not have to say good-bye.
Any additional comments?
Fannie Flagg's voice makes this a very heartfelt drama. The contrast between characters was interesting and enjoyable. The story caused me to do further research into women pilots during World War II.

Historia
In 1918, after four harrowing years on the Western Front, Tom Sherbourne returns to Australia to take a job as the lighthouse keeper on remote Janus Rock. To this isolated island, where the supply boat comes only four times a year and shore leaves are granted every other year at best, Tom brings a young, bold, and loving wife, Isabel. Three years later, after two miscarriages and one stillbirth, the grieving Isabel is tending the grave of her newly lost infant when she hears a baby’s cries on the wind. A boat has washed up on shore carrying a dead man and a living baby.

Heartbreaking, but a great read!
Revisado: 09-22-12
What did you love best about The Light Between Oceans?
The thoughtfulness of the characters was exceptional. I found myself writing down quotes from the book. Also, I loved immersing myself in a place and experience I had no clue about.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Isabelle was my favorite character because I understood her completely, and lived through each moment of heartache with her.
Have you listened to any of Noah Taylor’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I'm not sure if I have heard Noah Taylor before, but I thought he did a fantastic job.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
It will make you grateful for the life you have!
Any additional comments?
I was listening to the story on my way to work. I started blubbering uncontrollably and needed to pull over to try and "pull myself together" before continuing on. It had a huge emotional impact on me...more than any book I can remember, and made me think deeply about my own perceptions. I ended up purchasing the hardcover of the book to add to my collection of lifetime favorites. Although you will need plenty of Kleenex, it is so worth it!

Historia
Bitterblue is now queen of Monsea. But the influence of her father, a violent psychopath with mind-altering abilities, lives on. Her advisors, who have run things since Leck died, believe in a forward-thinking plan: Pardon all who committed terrible acts under Leck's reign, and forget anything bad ever happened. But when Bitterblue begins sneaking outside the castle - disguised and alone - to walk the streets of her own city, she starts realizing that the kingdom has been under the 35-year spell of a madman.

Great story... fantastic audiobook!
Revisado: 08-10-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Bitterblue to be better than the print version?
I loved the first two titles in the Graceling series, but this was this first in the series that I listened to rather than read. I enjoyed it so much that I listened to it twice and have decided to purchase the first two titles in audible format to listen to.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Bitterblue?
There were so many great moments in Bitterblue, but what I really enjoyed about the audio version is that the narrator really helped the listener understand the frustration and anguish Bitterblue suffered while trying to rule her kingdom as a young queen.
Have you listened to any of Xanthe Elbrick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I believe this is the first time I listened to Xanthe Elbrick perform. I thought she was wonderful! Not only is her voice pleasant to listen to, it is so regal that it fit the part perfectly.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book took me through many emotions from happiness to fear. It was fun to hear Bitterblue as a young adult since I last knew her as a small child. The characters from the earlier books seemed more lifelike since I could hear them. Many times throughout the story I was afraid for her life and felt just as betrayed as Bitterblue was betrayed.
Any additional comments?
This is a story I will listen to over and over. It reminds me of the importance of friends, old and new.

Who can you trust?
Revisado: 07-30-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense and puzzles.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Charlie West, was of course the best character.
Have you listened to any of Joshua Swanson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first time I heard Joshua Swanson perform and I was impressed.
Any additional comments?
Charlie West is put through the ringer and throughout the book I kept hoping for some relief for him. In a way, he is like James Bond in that he has some great talents but he needs his brains to put those talents to his best advantage. Unlike Bond, he has no backup. There is no country, no spy network, to support him. He is totally on his own...at least at this point. I can't wait to listen to the next installment.

Historia
Beneath heaven is hell. Beneath hell is Furnace. Furnace Penitentiary. The world's most secure prison for young offenders, buried a mile beneath the earth's surface. One way in, no way out. Once you're here, you're here until you die, and for most of the inmates that doesn't take long - not with the sadistic guards and the bloodthirsty gangs. Convicted of a murder he didn't commit, sentenced to life without parole, 'new fish' Alex Sawyer knows he has two choices: find a way out, or resign himself to a death behind bars.

Boys will love it!
Revisado: 07-23-12
Would you listen to Lockdown again? Why?
I probably wouldn't listen to Lockdown again because it was very suspenseful and made me nervous...just the type of book teen boys love!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Lockdown?
The boys are locked away in a underground prison called, Furnace. Sometimes, never knowing when, the boys are subjected to horrendous creatures roaming the halls, stopping at cells of prisoners to take and torture. Every time this happened I wanted to pull a blanket over my head so I wouldn't be seen.
What about Alex Kalajzic’s performance did you like?
Alex Kalajzic's voice pulled me into the story, making me one of the characters.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me sweat! I knew when I was finished listening to it that it was a winner for the boys in my school. They love this kind of stuff.
Any additional comments?
This is a great book to hook a reluctant reader. Audiobooks usually work pretty well, but this story is truly dynamic.
