A strong story about race and privilege. An important message about realizing that if you have had things go well for you in life, it's likely at the cost of others who have not. It's about racial self-awareness. It caused me to make a greater effort to pay attention to my actions and those around me. The ending wasn't entirely satisfactory, which I won't comment on to avoid spoilers, but it had to end somehow and it might have been unsatisfactory no matter what. Jodi Picoult is a great storyteller and I'm always sad when the books end.

This was an odd collection of things; some of the stories were very funny, some of them were quite moving, some of them were touching and very memorable, but some of them were strange and overall it was uneven. still, I'm glad I listened to it. I think Mr. Novak sounds remarkably like Ira Glass.
