Epic story with a tolerable narration
Revisado: 09-17-19
As with other reviewers, the narrator they chose for this book came darn close to ruining it, however the story was too good to pass up. Yes, it’s a long story that takes more than half the book to get into the core of what the purpose of the brooch was, but the rich character development is part of what I love about this series. Can’t wait for the next installment!

Great story-slow narrator
Revisado: 09-27-18
The action never stops making this one of those books that you sit in your car to keep listening. I work in the space business and the technology is remarkably accurate. The only ding is that the narration is incredibly slow. Once I sped it up to 2x it was great.

Slow start

This story took a great deal of time to get going and never really picked up pace until the last chapter or two. Perfectly fine story, but not remarkable.

Couldn’t put this down. Merci is an intriguing, likable character and the plot line had enough twists and turns to keep me guessing until the end. I’ll definitely continue the series.

Choppy narration, but good story
Revisado: 11-13-17
This is a spin off of the Weekday Bride stories so some of the characters are familiar, however this story isn't quite as good as a usual Catherine Bybee. It took longer to ramp up, probably because so many new characters were introduced at once, but once it finally got going, I was hooked. Unfortunately the narrator was incredibly choppy and very difficult to listen to. I think I finally got used to it enough to enjoy the last 1/4 of the book, but I'm hoping they go back to one of the other narrators previously used.

Surprisingly great!
Revisado: 01-25-17
I bought this book on sale and figured it was worth a try since I doubted that Nora Roberts would allow her name to be used in a book unless she thought it was good too. While I thought it started out a little slow, the story picked up and had wonderful funny spots, suspenseful spots, some good steam and very likable characters.

Touching, funny and well developed
Revisado: 10-22-16
The story of a young woman who tries to make the sins of her father right will pull on your heartstrings but also have you laughing out loud. I'm not a big fan of angst or tears, so this book has that perfect balance of making you really care about the characters without rolling your eyes about how stupid they are. The language is a little more coarse than I prefer, but other than that, this is a great book that will have you laughing, fanning yourself from the steam and choking up at the thought of their not being together.

Historia
For Rose Gardner, working at the DMV on a Friday afternoon is bad even before she sees a vision of herself dead. She's had plenty of visions, usually boring ones like someone's toilet's overflowed, but she's never seen one of herself before. When her overbearing momma winds up murdered on her sofa instead, two things are certain: There isn't enough hydrogen peroxide in the state of Arkansas to get that stain out, and Rose is the prime suspect.

Quirky and funny but narrator needs a dictionary
Revisado: 07-05-16
This was a quirky book about a young, sheltered woman whose ability to see the future has been squashed by her mother and made her an outcast in her bible-belt community. When she sees her own death, she spends the rest of the book trying to avoid being killed while getting to know her mysterious neighbor. There were some laugh out loud moments, and the plot kept me guessing through most of the book (except for the role of the neighbor). The narrator did a pretty good job, but she regularly mispronounced words which was annoying. For example she said j-oh-seld not j-ah-seld for jostled. She really should go to a dictionary for words that she doesn't know. If you're looking for steam, go to another author since she "goes to black" after the kiss, but it's a fun read, with likable characters.

Gripping!
Revisado: 05-13-16
I really enjoy Rosaline James books because they have very likable characters, have humor, and a romantic plot that doesn't make you roll your eyes because the character is too stupid to just ask a question to clear things up. This book is particularly good because of the strong storyline. Even though I guessed who the perpetrator was as soon as he was introduced into the story, she had me guessing near the end and I literally gripped the steering wheel of my car as the final scenes were described. It's so nice to find an author who can spin a great tale as well as throw in some steam and romance.
