This is a most entertaining book, and it is exceptionally narrated. I highly recommend it.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first started this series. I was a little worried it would be a little over my head since I had virtually no background in the field of human perception, but I was SO wrong. The speaker never once spoke down to me, but he still kept each lesson easy to understand and enjoyable. As a teacher myself, I really appreciate that! He used real-world examples, actual experiments, and gave experiments we could recreate at home to helps us understand how we process the world around us! I listened to several chapters back-to-back because it was enjoyable.

I expected the story to be fantastic, but it was even better than that!! The story was extremely well-written and researched, but the icing on the cake was the narrator! The voices were amazing! So many unique voicing a that were authentic without being cartoony or overdone! I really, really enjoyed it!

What other book might you compare Blood and Tequila to and why?

Some of the typical "old westerns' might compare to this one. A central gunslinger has to fight his way through a series of obstacles to make it out a town alive. In truth, I would qualify this this book more as a western than sci-fi - though the vampire element does add an element fun, especially from the point of view of the main character as he tries to figure out how to conquer and destroy them.

What does Hubert Williams bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hubert Williams does an excellent job of putting the listener right in the middle of the Old West. You can literally hear the gun slingers, Mexican townfolk, and vampire conquistadors brought to life in way that can be difficult just on the written page.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Butch Cassidy meets Van Helsing

Any additional comments?

While the combination of vampires and Old West desperados might seem a bit far-fetched, Webster did a great job of tying the two together. The main character is very likable, and Hubert narrated him in a very believable way, so much so that I found myself laughing out loud with him at several points in the story. This is an enjoyable story for those who enjoy westerns with a little something unexpected.

What did you like best about this story?

Set in the already "squeamish" world of blood donating, BLOOD WILL TELL takes the listener through the adventure of facing one of humanity's greatest fears: being alone. What I enjoyed most about this story, though, is that, through the great writing and fantastic narration, the reader is able to get a glimpse both into the mind of main character, who is a telepath, those around him, and the 'invader,' who appears to him the guise of a rather seductive woman. Will he be able to free the rest of humanity from the invader? Will her feminine wiles win him over? I was surprised at just how much this rather short story scared me and vastly entertained me all at the same time.

What about Hubert Williams’s performance did you like?

Hubert Williams did a fantastic job of capturing the essence of a small-town Southern guy, trying to avoid any real connections with people as he makes his way through life as a telepath. I found myself literally laughing out loud at his characterizations several times, even though the story was rather suspenseful most of the time. My favorite aspect of this particular performance was the audio effects used to depict the 'inner dialogue' the main character would 'overhear' in his role as a telepath. The slightly 'reverberated' effect wasn't distracted but greatly added to the eeriness of the moment. Wonderful, subtle effect for this piece.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This story has it all – romance, adventure, magic, and women who can hold their own – all set in the fully recreated world of early England.

What did you like best about this story?

The story is lovely, complete with a few unexpected twists, but the world created in the novel is by-far the best element of the story. From the opening scene, the reader steps into a world so far removed from cell phones and iPads and internet access only to be assaulted by arrogant noblemen trying to take what they feel is entitled to them. Caste systems are in open use, and the reader gets a glimpse into the lifestyle of most classes before the novel closes. From beginning to end, the reader feels every bump and cut, tastes every pint of ale and crust of bread, and feels every thrill and crushing blow to the heart along with the characters

What about Amanda Friday’s performance did you like?

Ms. Friday has a very engaging performance style, very easy to understand and follow. My favorite aspect of her performance, though, is the plethora of voices at her disposal. Each character (down to the lowliest servant or messenger that may appear only once) has a unique voice. As a listener, this made the experience so much more entertaining, almost like watching a movie. The voices seemed natural and conversational, making me love the heroes more and hate the villains with even more gusto

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I spaced it out over two months as I waited in line to pick my daughter up from school.

Any additional comments?

While this is my first Audible experience, it is not my first audibook experience. I have checked dozens out from my public library over the years. I was very impressed with the quality of recording, both by the performer and in the digital format.
