Historia
Laurie is sure love at first sight doesn't exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic...and then her bus drives away. Certain they're fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn't find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they "reunite" at a Christmas party, when her best friend, Sarah, giddily introduces her new boyfriend: the man from the bus.

The performance!
Revisado: 04-01-24
I was instantly transported onto a bus in December, rolling past the crowds of people pressing into each other on the busy sidewalk as the bus lumbered past, one particularly striking pair of eyes meeting mine. The voice pulled me in and I felt the anguish of felling in love whilst passing him… I listened and became the woman. I spent the next scattered hours marching through a decade of time…

Historia
Barry Laverty, M.B., can barely find the village of Ballybucklebo on a map when he first sets out to seek gainful employment there, but already he knows that there is nowhere he would rather live than in the emerald hills and dales of Northern Ireland. The proud owner of a spanking-new medical degree and little else in the way of worldly possessions, Barry jumps at the chance to secure a position as an assistant in a small rural practice. At least until he meets Dr. Fingal Flahertie O'Reilly.

Unexpectedly funny!
Revisado: 10-02-23
I started this book for the accent. Yeah. Shallow of me. In the first chapter I felt I knew the characters. Our friendship grew with each passing chapter as I learned to trust O’Reilly along with Barry. I got attached to them, their patients, Kincaid, all of them. Now I’m looking for book two. This is the kind of story you want. The characters become living people and you miss them when it ends.

Historia
After more than a decade, when sisters Nikki, Sami, and Tori Knotek hear the word mom, it claws like an eagle’s talons, triggering memories that have been their secret since childhood. Until now. For years, behind the closed doors of their farmhouse in Raymond, Washington, their sadistic mother, Shelly, subjected her girls to unimaginable abuse, degradation, torture, and psychic terrors. Through it all, Nikki, Sami, and Tori developed a defiant bond that made them far less vulnerable than Shelly imagined.

Thorough and long

When I started listening, I didn’t know this is a true story. Over halfway through, I read the small print. I struggle knowing that the adults stayed with Shelly. She had to be the most twisted, skilled type of gaslighting adult for Kathy and Ron to stay to the point of being unable to physically leave. Then I remember Stockholm syndrome. This story was so difficult to listen to even though I wanted to find out how it ended. It’s amazing to me that the police and neighbors overlooked what was going on. How did no one smell that burning? I’m shattered that I’m three people had to die at the hands of this insane woman and the man that became her pawn. They should have gotten the death penalty. Kudos to the actor of Shelly’s voice. It became a nightmare for me to “hear” her abusive attacks. I am finished and I still hear the hateful diatribe she hurled at them.

Historia
Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by. Since Gran died a few months ago, twenty-five-year-old Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. No matter—she throws herself with gusto into her work as a hotel maid. Her unique character, along with her obsessive love of cleaning and proper etiquette, make her an ideal fit for the job.

I really enjoyed this story. I found it
Captivating. The main character was so innocent and incapable of subterfuge. And then, things changed. Quite a good story.

My brother loved this one!!
Revisado: 02-08-22
So, because my brother loved this one, I took it up. I didn't love it as much as he did. I liked it... but found it not quite to my taste. My brother, on the other hand, totally loved it. Here you have it, two reviews in one!

very strange future!
Revisado: 02-08-22
This story is a classic - I did expect more than a monologue, but i'm sure that was the style. I listened to it all because i wanted to know what happened - isn't that always the way of it!! Worth a listen, even if it's just for historical author reasons.

That’s what I said repeatedly during the time I was listening to this book. And when I had to put it away and go to work, I thought about what had happened and might happen and… Omigosh! This is a terrific story
