Great premise, FYI a bit erotic last few chapters
Revisado: 01-12-18
Would you consider the audio edition of Gamer for Life to be better than the print version?
I prefer audio versus print. i'm dyslexic so audio books give me the opportunity to enjoy books without the frustrations of reading the print.
What other book might you compare Gamer for Life to and why?
The closest book would be "Way of the shaman" series by Vasily Mahanenko. Both share the premise of a VR prison. Both are in prison and have the opportunity to get out into the real game world.
Have you listened to any of Peter Berkrot’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No I have not, he does a great job using different voices for each of the character. My only criticism would be that a lot of the voices seem to have a bit of an Irish tint.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes and No, I listen to these on my way to and from work. Also before i go to bed. i usually get through these in a few days
Any additional comments?
The last few chapters of the book are a bit more descriptive in regards to sex. And what he does with the women in involved. With that said if they were to toned down a bit, I think it would be okay. If i were in prison for 5 years i too would want to play out some of my sexual tension. So to me it does not seem out of place. but like i said a bit to descriptive. if you go into this book know it, it should not be to bothersome.

This is the saga of the immortal Gon, a 30,000 year-old vampire. The first volume of his memoirs recounts his mortal life in prehistoric Germany alongside his male companion, Brulde, and his two wives, the Neanderthal Eyya and his Cro-Magnon mate, Nyala. It details the fearsome events that lead to his transformation from man to undying monster.

A different spin that’s refreshing
Revisado: 11-04-15
Would you consider the audio edition of The Oldest Living Vampire Tells All: Revised and Expanded to be better than the print version?
Not sure never read the printed version. My only issue with audio books is the pronunciationof name and places. It can be different then what we consider normal.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Gon, I liked that he was flawed and impulsive. His love for his family and his people so much that he would trade all his happiness to keep them safe. He looked out for them even when dealing with his very own real demons "the thirst".
Which scene was your favorite?
Gon and his maker
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes, I laugh and teared up at different points in the story. The part that made me tear up ***SPOILER*** was when he came back for his companion/husband. That he wanted to be with them, the family had him in life but he wanted to be with his two wife's and companion/husband in death.
Any additional comments?
I like this book very much the different way the author took the genera, a look at what it would be like to be the oldest living vampire. The way he brought the cor-magnons and neanderthals together. My only issue would be over half the book was about his life before his was turned. That part did not really appeal to me. It looks like there is going to be 6 book in this series so i look forward to reading more of this story.
Also I've read a few reviews that mention the sexual parts of this story that deals with kids. I was not sure of how that would play out or if i wanted to find out, but i could not see it being some thing way out there. The sexual aspects was between kids NOT adults and that was brief.
I read another book about vampire just a few weeks ago called "real vampire don't sparkle" it was okay. Like with this book there is some homoerotic goings on in this story, but it's not the main point (like it was with "Real Vampires don't Sparkle") of the story it's a small part of the story line. If that bothers you then this many not be a book for you.

Matheus Taylor didn't ask to be murdered. To be fair, the percentage of people actually asking to be murdered is probably small enough to be safely ignored, but he felt it was worth stating regardless. His life might have been ordinary, but it was his life and he wasn't done with it yet. Quin didn't care. A 1,700-year-old Roman, Quintus Livius Saturnius had a different view of morality than most people. Killing Matheus and hijacking his undead existence seemed perfectly acceptable to him.

Different.......way to much of a "homoerotic vibe"
Revisado: 10-21-15
Would you try another book from Amy Fecteau and/or James Patrick Cronin?
I might depends if I get it from audible, so if I don’t like it I can return it.
What was most disappointing about Amy Fecteau’s story?
The most disappointing about the story is a couple of things. I don’t mind taking the vampire story in a different direction. They are completely dead during the day and only alive at night okay I can accept that BUT some of the main characteristic of a being a vampire: are being immortal, super speed and super human strength lastly you heal very fast. The book is missing speed (or at least most of the time “Sunshine” only move’s fast when is running in the woods), strength, as for healing “Sunshine” does heal fast when he drinks blood but there not much of that, healing I mean.
Which scene was your favorite?
I like most of their banter, the back and forth I found it very amusing.
Any additional comments?
I did like parts of the book more than others. I really enjoyed the modern day approach to this kind of story. My biggest problem with the book was the overall homoerotic vibe of it. There’s a lot of suggested talk about homosexuality throughout this whole book. The main character seems to be struggling with it. For me, that’s what made it difficult to enjoy the book. As a reader I’m trying to put myself in the main character shoes. I think the writer could have allude to it without focusing on as much on it as she did. As with a lot of the Vampire genre sexuality is a big part of it.

Eric didn't ask to be a vampire. In fact he didn't even believe in them. Biting your own tongue with your fangs does a lot of convincing. Even so, being a part-time undead isn't as easy as you might think. It can let you hold down a day job, true, but sometimes the night "life" can be more than a little difficult, what with those bloodthirsty urges and predatory instincts kicking in.

GREAT story and different view point.
Revisado: 09-03-15
Would you listen to Nightlord again? Why?
Yes, i really enjoyed the story and the different people from his different wife's to his Sword personality after killing the Dragon.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
the Performance was a little difficult to get use to. I felt like he was speaking like Captain Krik in the old time Star Trek, it.......seemed......like.....he......had.....a......pause...in...... almost.......every-word.....he......spoke. So it took a little getting use to it. but once i did. i was able to ignore it.
Any additional comments?
Overall I really like the story and Eric's mindset in the book. How he struggles with who he is as a teacher and a modern man and now a Night-Lord that travels to a different place and Time. From what I've seen in different post not sure if there will be another book. There should be he leaves the book unfinished or in a cliffhanger. There so much more he needs to finish and explain. I will be anticipating and looking for a second book ASAP.

Not as good as the first two books
Revisado: 08-22-15
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No i would not the first and second books were great, the third book was weak, Vaelin Al Sorna lost his gift but when other people with the "Dark" die and came back they did not lose there gift. like the crazy witch who has die 2 or 3 times, and the guy that been traveling all over the realm for centuries.
Also their seems to be more to the story, i hope there is a book 4.
If you read the first 2 books you may want to read the third if there's a 4 book.
Would you ever listen to anything by Anthony Ryan again?
yes I'm hoping there is a book 4 because it seem like there more left unfinished with the story

Not Happy
Revisado: 01-11-13
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
the story jumps around alot and this book was full of minor characters, long winded
If you’ve listened to books by George R. R. Martin before, how does this one compare?
the first three were much better and the story flowed better
What didn’t you like about Roy Dotrice’s performance?
voices sounded the same for men and women
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Jamie i like how he is changing who he is
Any additional comments?
skip this book not really needed for the story

Great listen, a little slow in the beginning
Revisado: 11-02-12
What did you love best about Valentine's Rising?
There a conflict between what he knows need's to be done and what he is willing to do. "DO THE ENDS JUSTIFY THE MEANS" there is a point where he has to make a choice the life of a new born baby for all the lives of his command around 600. Not counting all the pensioners he will rescue later total # 1400 people. This is a question that has plague the minds of many commanders in WAR. The author is trying to make this as close to realistic as possibly.
What did you like best about this story?
The interaction between the people, it seems it could be real.
Have you listened to any of Christian Rummel and E. E. Knight (Introduction) ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
overall it does compare very well, my only issue is how short the books are. i am use to much longer book 20hr plus .
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
i have read the others and again great stories.

Almost ruined by Horrible Narrator DICK HILL
Revisado: 10-05-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
yes and no i like the story but parts are very dark and graphic, too graphic it's not needed.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Temple of the Winds?
Richard kills his brother by remembering he is the weapon not the sword.
What didn’t you like about Dick Hill’s performance?
He gets one of the main character name wrong through the whole book . IT’S NOT COLLINE IT’S Kahlan if you are not sure he should have listen to one of the books before he performs it.
Could you see Temple of the Winds being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
already happened
