He's everything I've never wanted—too young, too weird, too wild. I wasn't impressed that I had to get my weekly massage from a guy with a toe ring. But when I discovered David Cooke's skills as a masseur were literally orgasmic, I couldn't stop thinking about him and his amazing hands, day and night. Especially at night. He's full of surprises. And despite my bad behavior, David's just as eager to explore this chemistry between us. Turns out, there's a lot more to him than hemp pants and tattoos.

Couldn't get past the first chapter
Revisado: 05-24-19
This has spoilers for the first 15 minutes of the book.
The main character basically cums on himself during a regular relaxation massage and I was so grossed out and appalled that I couldn't keep listening.
First of all, that isn't sexy. Its potentially the most embarrassing thing I've ever heard. And I get that this is fantasy and maybe this is super hot for some people, but it's not okay to turn a vanilla massage session into a sex thing. No regular massage person wants to see you cum, you gross sexual harasser!
I had to quit the book. I couldn't go on.

Didn't know this was a Christian book
Revisado: 11-01-18
At first I was a little bit annoyed that nothing in the description prepared me for the fact that the author was decidedly writing from a Christian point of view.
Now, I think that I'm glad it didn't say anything. I might not have bought it if it had. Because I'm not a Christian, I sometimes feel lost reading Christian writing. I don't know any of the stories they're referencing, I don't get the allusions or the nuances. Frequently I find myself at a loss when Christian women talk about their duty to hearth and home. I've never been a hearth and home person and I feel called out sometimes when people assume that I should be, or that all women should be because of biology.
But the references are well explained, the language is plain and not hard to translate and overall the story is highly relatable to me. I'm also trying to slow down. I've also sacrificed my principals and my relationships with my family because I had to prove myself in a working world that wouldn't have missed a beat if I got hit by a bus. I'm also trying to redefine myself after the most defining feature of my whole life (work) proved to be inadequate.
It has been immensely helpful to hear this story from someone who probably couldn't be more different from me in nearly every way. I really appreciated that the author wrote with respect for other traditions, mostly the Jewish tradition, and that she did mention that people of diverse sexualities exist. Reading things written by some religious people can be touch and go for queer people these days, but if you're worried about that you have no need to be concerned about this book. It had valuable information in it and no hate or derision for others.

Drew Forrester is a total adrenaline junkie. His high of choice? Cars. The faster, the better. He's been making waves in Maryland's underground racing circuit since he crossed the state line, and after speaking with him, we know he's not hitting the brakes anytime soon. So what exactly does it take to burn rubber and make a name for yourself in a world where the only rule is that there are no rules? You gotta be hungry. You gotta have balls. And you can never back down.

Trash Men Who Suck at Everything
Revisado: 07-07-18
I love cars. I like car movies. I was expecting a gay Fast and the Furious and I got a book about a mysoginistic trash bro and his equally mysoginistic meathead broFF sucking at every human thing besides driving a car, and the lack of writing around that is a let down if you like cars.
The offhand comments about "being a woman" or "acting like a woman" whenever the main character has an errant feeling that isn't anger or smugness is annoying, but I rage quit the moment the main character sees a woman driver and looses his mind with disbelief. This is a grown man in the indy race scene. If he's never even heard of a woman driver, he's got medical problems.
I tried for the cars, but even the car stuff was as weak the plot and characterization.

Unexpectedly Bad
Revisado: 07-01-18
Normally, I love this author but this is really, really bad. I love cars. I like car movies. Trigger Warning: Abusive Behavior
Revisado: 05-27-18
I love A.M. Arthur, but there's no way I'm finishing this book. I had to stop because one character straight up punches the other in the face during a disagreement. Oh heck no. Nope nuh uh.
I don't care what happens next, I don't care why the author thinks that's excusable. the book should end right then. A punched B in the face and then B never spoke to him again and the happy ever after is the B doesn't have a relationship with an abuser.

Marc Ecko is Rich: The Book
Revisado: 04-19-15
What disappointed you about Unlabel?
I wanted a book about branding, what I got was Marc Ecko talking about Marc Ecko.
This was an autobiography, not a business book.
Would you ever listen to anything by Marc Ecko again?
No.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Unlabel?
I liked the narrator. He was the only reason I kept listening so long.
Any additional comments?
There seems to be a rash of autobiographies by successful business people on the market that turn into a run-down of their fabulous lives, or a listing of notable events. They're listed as business books, but really they're autobiographies.

Historia
One of the most influential, admired, and innovative women of our time: fashion designer, philanthropist, wife, mother, and grandmother, Diane von Furstenberg shares stories about becoming the woman she wanted to be. Diane von Furstenberg started out with a suitcase full of jersey dresses and an idea of who she wanted to be - in her words, "the kind of woman who is independent and who doesn’t rely on a man to pay her bills."

Why Is this in the Business Section?
Revisado: 11-09-14
What disappointed you about The Woman I Wanted to Be?
I thought that this was going to be about the fashion empire she built. Instead, it's about the houses she bought and the men she slept with.
What could Diane von Furstenberg have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
She could have written more about her business. Her deals, her triumphs. It sounds like she has nothing to do with DVF the company.
Which scene was your favorite?
The first chapter when she talks about her childhood and her mother was very interesting and I felt swept up in that.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Woman I Wanted to Be?
Every chapter after the first one.
Any additional comments?
If she starts to talk about industry and running a business after Chapter 4, please let me know, because I had to stop. I couldn't take another second of here extremely glamorous celebrity filled life. It just depressed me.

Teen Wolf Without the Supporting Cast
Revisado: 03-08-13
What would have made Beautiful Creatures better?
This is really vapid. I mean, points for not being a misogynistic mess, but there's nothing in here but well-narrated teenage angst. It's basically Teen Wolf if all the interesting characters transferred to another school or died.
Obviously I'm not the market for this book, I got it on a 2 for 1 sale. If you liked twilight but hated all the typos, this is a better choice.
What could Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Nothing. It's just not for me. I should have known that by all the teenagers on the cover.
What about Kevin T. Collins’s performance did you like?
His voice is probably the only thing that kept me listening as long as I did.
What character would you cut from Beautiful Creatures?
All of them.
