Suspenseful until the end!

I like how the characters were developed and there was no predictability. The performance fit the book well! I’m really liking this author more and more with each book I read!!

Twisted Convoluted Story Line
Revisado: 04-28-25
I started out enjoying this story- when I thought it would be maybe a short backstory on each woman before they came together for the Big Event. However, each story was like a mini tiny novella that left you hanging. There was no big event except around the main character. I was just really disappointed because I have enjoyed the other Karen Slaughters books I’ve read. The narration was superb though!

So many twists!
Revisado: 12-23-24
This was a story that kept me on edge the entire time. I went back and forth between liking and disliking each of the two main characters throughout the story. I liked how even at the very end there were secrets revealed.

Story good animal abuse description horrific
Revisado: 07-27-24
The storyline was good. I enjoy the main character’s boyfriend Chris how supportive he is to Emily. Emily I started out liking as the main character but as the story progressed I found myself thinking she’s not a very proactive detective. Her work mate Jason is picking up on more clues and so is her boyfriend while she’s waiting for things to fall into place. I feel like the main villain’s wife did more detective work. Overall the story was enjoyable but I had to skip through some of the overly descriptive scenes of animal torture. I look forward to reading another book with Emily in Cherry Stone and see how her character develops.

I really like this narrator because her voice is calming and paced. The story itself was very surprising and kept me guessing until til the end. I do feel it started off slowly though.

Abandoned due to narration

I couldn’t finish listening to it with the narration. It took away from the story. The narrator had a rushed hurried voice like she was always getting ready to reveal something exciting.

Interesting relationship
Revisado: 04-12-24
I didn’t really have a favorite character. Definitely didn’t like Asa, yet felt sorry for him, and Carter came across cocky, while Sloan was whiny. I enjoyed the story all the way through but I feel like it could have been a bit shorter and not dragged on as much. I can’t stand the portions when made is imitating the female voice.

The narrator got on my nerves
Revisado: 02-01-24
I liked the story but loved the first one! I really enjoyed Kate Rudd narrating the story and wish she had been available for “After He Killed Me”. The narration almost changed the personality of Emma completely making her into a habitual whiner. The whining along with the annoying male voices made it difficult for me to keep listening. I did keep listening because I really enjoyed the first Emma Fern story.

Revisado: 12-22-23
This book drew me in from the very beginning! The two main female characters were strong and their personalities well developed. I couldn’t help but like them both and think they’d be great friends to have my back. This is my favorite Lisa Unger book so far!
