I truly enjoyed this story especially it's relevance to today's religious theologies. Without giving away spoilers, imagine if the first horseman of the apocalypse comes to earth and begins his business of spreading plague and death throughout the world. Imagine you have decided to try to save humanity by taking out the horseman only to find that this is an immortal entity and now as punishment for your attempt he has decided to keep you alive to suffer for your deed and accompany him as he lays waste to human kind. Welcome to the hell of Sarah Burns. Travel with her as she attempts to plead for human kind with the horseman who sees mankind only as vermin that he must exterminate. This is a slow burn romance with trigger warnings around death, theology, assault and kidnapping. I can't wait to read book 2 War.

How many of us have married the wrong person but try to stick it out for our kids? Even though you know you should leave but you continue, losing a little more of yourself day by day. If you know this feeling, then you can identify with Ruby. Ruby is married to the lead singer of a band and is tired of the music. Constantly being neglected, cheated on, and gaslighted, she is finally done. Ruby makes a life changing decision but needs time and space to bring it to fruition. Thank goodness for her best friend DJ Izzy. Izzy invites Ruby to the east coast to give her a place to get her thoughts together and help remember who she is. Like any best friend weekend (well, mine anyway) there is alcohol, fine ass men, and plenty of shenanigans. This book does not disappoint. There are many laugh out loud moments watching Ruby and Izzy rediscover their friendship. As the weekend continues Ruby begins to rediscover more of who she was before she became a wife and mother. She is a Firecracker! As the weekend comes to an end Ruby finds the strength and power to do what she knows that she must, but she also finds that there is a gorgeous man who is crazy about her, and he is determined that he is not going to let her walk away from him and a chance at something new. This book leaves you wanting the next book in the series right away so that you can continue Ruby's journey once she arrives back on the west coast. I loved the narrator she had the excitement and tenor of what the characters sounded like in my head. Can't wait to get the next audio book in the series "Quick".
I received this audiobook in return for an honest review.

Just when you thought that you had an understanding of the royal family, this book makes you think again. All of the things that were regarded as royal pomp and circumstance were just cold and calculated popularity contests. Bravo for Prince Harry. I could hear the pain and longing in his voice for normalcy, support, and acceptance when all he received was a platter to place himself upon to be served to the paparazzi. Thank you, Meghan, for loving him and seeing him. Prince Harry and Meghan's love story could have been more beautiful if instead of the controversy it was filled with support and civility. Their story nonetheless is lovely because in the words of Frank Sinatra, "they did it their way"!

Maybe I began listening to this story in the wrong frame of mind. I was expecting to hear a story about 3 black women with no connection being tied together by the mysterious Jonny Von Lunden. Instead I heard the story of 3 black women who were insecure, guarded, lonely and looking for love in Sweden. Albeit, each woman had a inner strength and resilience within them that helped to propel them forward to make decisions necessary to take the risks to find happiness but in the end they were left empty and worse off than they began. Kemi, a nigerian born American citizen was the top in her field of marketing. Feeling the pressure of the glass ceiling pressing on her head she realizes that she can go no further in her current role at her company. Coupled by the insidious and increasing sexual advances of her boss she knows she needs to leave but is undecided until she is out of the blue approached by the Von Lunden company for a new position. This position is everything that she could want and the opportunity for advancement that she knows that she will never have with her company. So Kemi packs up and makes her move to Sweden. Brittany is a former model turned flight attendant. Because of trauma she endured during her modeling carrier Brittany is left guarded and insecure. Brittany encounters Jonny on a flight as he is coming to make a job offer to Kemi. Upon seeing her Jonny is struck and ruthlessly pursues her regardless of the fact that she has been in a long term relationship of 4 years. Muna is a young Somali girl who was escaping the horror of losing her family as they escape from Mogadishu. She is alone and grieving her losses and loneliness. When she is finally transferred from the safe place that she and the other refugees are staying she finds out that the mysterious benefactor for the monastery that she was staying was none other than Jonny Von Luden. Each woman's story was interesting and I felt for them at the way their black skin was seen and treated in Sweden. In a place that you would expect more acceptance and tolerance they all find the same racist behaviors and tropes that black women have endured for years. I can not say anymore unless I start spilling spoilers but this book left me depressed and confused. These woman were objectified, fetishized, and unseen. So I was not sure what the author was trying to relay with this story. For all that these women risked and endured what they were left with in the end signified that there is no hope for black women so we should just give in and give up. There was an allusion to mental illness but it was not specified or developed. I did enjoy the narrators, they were pretty spot on with giving me a feel for the individual characters. So, yeah I am still trying to process what I listened to.

Once Cliff was introduced and became such and integral part of everyones life I wondered how it would end for him. He was such a strong and honorable character that it would be a shame for him to be lost in a simple battle. Then add the growing love affair between he and Emma and I just wouldn't have been able to handle losing him. This was a great way to tie the storyline up and fill in some gaps but also give us Cliff's pov. I definitely enjoyed this book.

This was in my opinion one of the best n
books yet. It started off a little slow for me but once we got to the mission I could not put it down. Raven went through so much to prove that she belonged in Keystone and really put herself on the line. she has come so far and it shows. The background stories with Shepherd, Hunter and Krush were well placed and kept the story's pace. spoiler alert: the underground fighting club and Crawford almost did me in. Overall it is a must read for this series and I am anxiously waiting for the next book. Once you finish the last 3 chapters so will you.

I love this series and I know that it is ending soon. There have been a couple of nuggets within this story that let's me know although this part is ending there is more on the horizon. As always this series is well written and the pace is perfect. This series has plenty of laugh out loud comments and interactions. I am enjoying watching Kate come into her power and how she and Curran are dealing with it and all the issues that Atlanta, the People, the Keep, and family can throw at them. Great series !

What happens when life throws you curveball? If you are Bebe Grimshaw you take a swing and hope for the best. Unfortunately that last swing caused her to strike out. While attending MIT Bebe becomes pregnant and feels it is in her best interest to leave.(strike 1)As a single mom Bebe tries her best to provide a decent life for her infant son. Then her mother is diagnosed with diabetes and is unable to work and now has incurred medical bills and medication to manage her current disease process.(strike 2) Then she gets caught of with a russian mafia thug that for a while this appears to be ok, (curve ball)until he begins to force Bebe to do bad things. Specifically steal the launch codes for American nuclear weapons.(strike3) Bebe is caught between the life of her son and the lives of millions of people. She makes the ultimate sacrifice and get caught and arrested for treason and faces decades in the federal prison system away from her mother and the child that she loves until she is granted an early release by Kynan. The gist is she has to work for Jameson. As long as she keeps her nose clean she can have her family back and lead a somewhat normal life. Who in their right mind wouldn't take that deal? Although life seems to be on the right track Bebe can't help but feel that Karma is on her heels and someday she will have to atone for her previous actions. And sure enough karma does make its presence know in the form of a sexy as hell assassin named Griffen. For some reason Griff makes all of Bebe's common sense fly out of the window. Is it his sexy as sin body, his beard, his harley, and tatts ? Whatever it is, it has made Bebe vulnerable to that evil blast from her blast that threatens to destroy everything that she has built so far. Get ready to see Bebe in a way that you never imagined, vulnerable. I loved this book. It gave me a much better understanding of Bebe. I saw her as a woman/mother and not just an employee of Jameson. You really understand the importance of her relationship with her mother and son. Griffen is complex and that's all I can say for now. I obviously recommend this book. As always the narrators are on point. Great ending segue to the next book. Can't wait for Ghost, Malik's story.

I don't how she does it but Pepper Winters can write about something that makes your skin crawl with anger one minute and then crawl with sensuality the next. Sully buys Eleanor from sex traffickers to make her a goddess on his "sexual fantasy island". Sully is the God of this island and maintains his in control and in charge demeanor. Eleanor is not only beautiful but she is a challenge to Sully and his complete control unlike any of the girls before her. Her tenacity and determination draw Sully to her like a moth to a flame but this is a business and to quote Sully, "you don't shit where you eat". However, Sully can't control the pull he has towards Eleanor. Finally he decides he has to give in and have her but it is too late the time has come for her to be given to the client who has won the bid for her. Can Sully deny what he feels for Eleanor and allow her to spend the night with another man knowing fully she has made a mark on his dark soul ? I don't know either so I guess I'm on to book 2 Twice a wish. Follow me wont you?

Revisado: 02-29-20

I put off reading this book because I knew it would deal with a loss and guilt so soul deep for Tacker that I was afraid to take that journey with him. In the previous books you could see he was on a self destructive path and no one was close enough or comfortable enough to help him wrestle his demons. The rubber meets the road for Tacker in Book 4 Dax where towards the end of the book Tacker is injured in a drunk driving episode that could cost him his place on the team. Although, Tacker is considered a stand alone novel, I feel it would be much more enjoyable if read in order of the series. Tacker has been in a closed off state for the last 15 months since watching his finacee, MJ, die next to him in a plane crash that Tacker was the pilot. Tacker has never shared his feelings with friends or any professional counselor. He chose to use hockey as a way to cover up the pain of his loss. This caused him to be a reclusive, closed off and mercurial team captain. The members of the team were not willing to give up on Tacker so they tried some interventions by try to include him in team functions and bit by bit they begin to chip away at his protect outer layer. We see it chipping away with Blue's brother, Timmy, Legend's daughter, Charlie and finally Regan, Dax's wife. However, that was not enough to bring him out and as a result on the one day that Tracker could not hold back his guilt and pain over MJ's death any longer, he gets drunk and drives his truck into the barrier outside of the arena. At this point no one can over look Tacker's behaviors and emotional state so he is ordered into professional counseling or he will no longer be on team. This is where the beauty and heartbreak of Tacker's story is revealed. I don't want to spoil the ending if you have come this far and know that you should read this book. I will add that the type of therapy used on Tacker at the center was interesting it was called equine therapy. Working with the care and maintenance of the animals on the farm along with horses, their grooming, yep and shoveling manure. All which helped to breakdown barriers and build trust during the treatment. I cried multiple times while reading this book. The emotions and guilt that Tacker had bottled up were so engaging. Especially the story of Nora, one of the counselors who was a young child and the horrors she encountered as a victim of the war in Kosovo. All of this made it heart tugging, tear inducing, tissue using story that I would definitely recommend. Again, I would recommend starting from beginning of this series with Bishop. You wont be disappointed.
