Historia
The oni have invaded Pittsburgh on Elfhome. And, so far, it looks like they are winning. All this is according to prophecy. But the prophecy is big on symbols and light on specifics. Tinker and her allies are doing the best they can to defend the city and the civilians caught in the crossfire of a war between elves that’s been brewing for centuries. But the enemy has no hesitation whatsoever in involving innocents. All the pieces in this deadly game are in place—and everyone trusts Tinker will save them. All she needs is a plan. And then the lights go out, and the storm begins to rage ...

Wonderful reading compensates for minor story editing errors.
Revisado: 04-12-25
Despite a couple places where the editor missed word choice errors the story continues the first class writing. Princeton True Flame is called Prince True blood in one instance and referred to as True Flame in all other places. Anthologist substitutes for anthropology in another instance (this happens once each in Harbinger and Storm Furies. The story deserves a 5 star rating for both the story itself and the reader’s voices.

Historia
Navajo Nation Police Officer Bernadette Manualito witnesses the cold-blooded shooting of someone very close to her. With the victim fighting for his life, the entire squad and the local FBI office are hell-bent on catching the gunman. Bernie, too, wants in on the investigation, despite regulations forbidding eyewitness involvement. But that doesn't mean she's going to sit idly by, especially when her husband, Sergeant Jim Chee, is in charge of finding the shooter. Bernie and Chee discover that a cold case involving his former boss and partner, retired Inspector Joe Leaphorn, may hold the key.

Sloppy pronunciation of New Mexico place names is somewhat jarring
Revisado: 12-29-24
As with several other books in this series place names including Jemez, Chaco Canyon and another community though not fully anglicized also are not pronounced as I recall from my decade of life traveling and living and extensive travel across most of New Mexico.
I enjoyed the story and my memories as the town we lived in became a ghost town.

Vurt is a feather - a drug, a dimension, a dream state, a virtual reality. It comes in many colours: legal Blues for lullaby dreams. Blacks, filled with tenderness and pain, just beyond the law. Pink Pornovurts, doorways to bliss. Silver feathers for techies who know how to remix colors and open new dimensions. And Yellows - the feathers from which there is no escape. The beautiful young Desdemona is trapped in Curious Yellow, the ultimate Metavurt, a feather few have ever seen and fewer still have dared ingest. Her brother Scribble will risk everything to rescue his beloved sister.

The story line seemed to be one lengthy virtual game or drug haze. I rank the story as 1, my friend ranks it as 4.

Pronunciation differences mar the story
Revisado: 12-01-22
A number of proper names are pronounced differently from how those same names in other books she recorded in this series.
The story is a well written and welcome addition to the series and I look forward to at least a couple more books in this series.

Inventor, girl genius Tinker lives in a near-future Pittsburgh which now exists mostly in the land of the elves. She runs her salvage business, pays her taxes, and tries to keep the local ambient level of magic down with gadgets of her own design. When a pack of wargs chase an Elven noble into her scrap yard, life as she knows it takes a serious detour.

First book in one of the best fantasy series I have read.
Revisado: 12-08-20
While not without minor flaws the character development and interaction is as well done throughout the series as I have seen anywhere. The only series of comparable quality is the October Daye series. I recommend both highly worth reading, in my case rereading as well.

despite being well written prose i found the pacing slow and was only able to listen to about half before giving up on the slow paced story well chosen title and good artwork definately does not overcome the overall story.

Tim and his friends find out the hard way that you shouldn't question the game master, and you shouldn't make fun of his cape. One minute, they're drinking away the dreariness of their lives, escaping into a fantasy game and laughing their asses off. The next minute, they're in a horse-drawn cart surrounded by soldiers pointing crossbows at them.

Historia
In a world where the slightest edge can mean the difference between success and failure, Leisha Camden is beautiful, extraordinarily intelligent, and one of a growing number of human beings who have been genetically modified to never require sleep. Once considered interesting anomalies, now Leisha and the other "Sleepless" are outcasts, victims of blind hatred, political repression, and shocking mob violence meant to drive them from human society and, ultimately, from Earth itself.

Historia
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Mediocre story for the entire series
Revisado: 09-02-18
I only read this series as Hugo Finalists. Most of the stories I read are better, I was able to finish reading all of these stories; noteworthy as ocassionally I find stories both among Hugo finalists and in normal reading which contain things which totally break me out from the narrative into my “this doesn’t work at all” mode which starts me into analyzing what’s wrong. There were a couple points in which being a geologist forced me to question why behaviors could be considered possibleNone of the books stood out as being particularly good or bad overall. The second book in this series definitely is the best story of the 3. I did not find the science or science fiction aspect of these stories to be compelling
