Historia
Revolutionary singer, songwriter, producer, bandleader, and funk icon George Clinton travels the rich cosmos of his musical history. As the second most sampled artist in the world (right behind James Brown), Clinton examines his incongruous path from delivering milk to Sarah Vaughan on Avon Avenue in Newark, New Jersey, to embodying funk as we know it—from Motown to the Mothership. Clinton’s experiences as the mastermind behind his bands Parliament and Funkadelic and as the foremost authority on all things funk make for a distinctive, humorous, and thoughtful journey through modern music.

Fantastic!!!
Revisado: 02-02-25
I loved everything about this. He gives us his background, his childhood, inspiration for songs and even at 81 years old where he’d like to go next. It was a fun trip back to my childhood and I appreciate him for it.

Historia
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance - and healing - in each other's arms.

Loved the book and the narrator!
Revisado: 09-28-24
This book was great and one of the best series I’ve ever read. Many have commented about the narrator for this book and how different the narration style is from the other books. And while the narration is dramatic, I think it was necessary because Nesta was a very different kind of character loaded with a lot of drama. The narration style was necessary for this book. It was a phenomenal series.

An Authentic Talk about Faith
Revisado: 07-20-24
This is a refreshing and honest memoir of her life that has led to her faith-filled walk with God. She has helped me evaluate my own walk with God as well as some of those things that I think we all consider little sins like anger or gossip. I love that she’s wearing her faith out loud for all of us to see. God bless you Julie Chen Moonves!

What an amazing story. I loved every minute of it. It’s a great story of endurance, and a life well lived even when battered by heartbreaking circumstances. Magnificent!

Historia
The Einstein Intersection won the Nebula Award for best science fiction novel of 1967. The surface story tells of the problems a member of an alien race, Lo Lobey, has assimilating the mythology of Earth, where his kind have settled among the leftover artifacts of humanity. The deeper tale concerns, however, the way those who are "different" must deal with the dominant cultural ideology. The tale follows Lobey's mythic quest for his lost love, Friza. In luminous and hallucinated language, it explores what new myths might emerge from the detritus of the human world....

Too much going on to be enjoyable
Revisado: 02-26-24
I enjoyed the writing style of the author, but at the same time I found it very distracting. I had difficulty visualizing the characters, the location, everything. I understood it is a retelling of sorts of Orpheus, but some works, in my opinion, are unnecessarily complicated. This book left too many unanswered questions for me and was ultimately a waste of my time.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Great sci-fi, not so great female protagonist
Revisado: 12-26-23
Andy Weir is a great storyteller and always blows my mind with his math and science skill. However I’m not sure how I feel about men writing for a female protagonists especially because I found Jas SUPER annoying. Nevertheless, it was a great story, but I kept wondering if I would like Jas’ character better if she were male.

Wild Story with Beautiful Imagery
Revisado: 10-06-23
This is a very interesting story with a unique monster. Not quite a vampire or werewolf, but a monster nonetheless. The heroine got on my nerves a lot of the time, but it was still a fun book. The narrator wasn’t the best, and did not do a good job differentiating Her voice, but overall a decent book.

Historia
A thousand years in the future, a Black elite class reigns. The lower classes toil in the fields or scrape by in blighted cities, serving their rulers in a cruel, divided world. Among the Elites is eighteen-year-old Avi Jore, born to a powerful father and destined to rule. But as she comes of age, Avi cannot help but notice the injustices in her world - the treatment of enslaved workers, the oppression of the lower classes. Her disillusionment grows when she meets Saige Wilde, a mixed-race enslaved girl whose only goal is escaping beyond the borders of their brutal nation.

It Had Potential
Revisado: 09-11-23
This book had potential, but the two main protagonists were very unlikable. Saige is a sociopath and Avi is a simpering mess. Unfortunately, the book needed another edit to fix some of the gaping holes in the plot. Also, it seems that the two narrators did not collaborate on the voices of the characters, so it was just a mess, trying to keep up with who was doing the talking.

Historia
A thousand years have passed since a dragon has been seen in the world. Science and technology have replaced magic, which has dwindled until it has become little more than an element of myth and legend. There are those who still have dragon blood flowing through their veins, distant descendants of the mighty creatures of old. These rare humans have the power to cast magic, the power to heal, and the power to craft alchemical weapons capable of starting wars...or ending them.

Revisado: 04-12-23
What an outstanding novel. Amy Tan beautifully articulates the oceans that divide children and parents while also demonstrating the patience and resilience of those same parents and children. Additionally, Gwendoline Yeo was a fantastic narrator, and I will seek out more of her work.
