Historia
When summoned to a fantastical world and granted powers by a broken System, most freshly minted protagonists would strap on their big-boy boots and get ready for their stats to start climbing. But Fischer isn't like most MCs. In fact, he doesn't want to be a hero at all. Fame? Fortune? Power? He had enough of all that in his old life. Discovering forbidden fishing techniques and petting every cute animal that comes within scritching distance? Now that's a good time.

I'm not sure what I expected but this wasn't it. however it was an amazing read. not sure if author was trying to be subtle and introspective or just writing a witty nice story that happen to hit me at the right time but it was ten types of both life inspiring and entertaining. other two are good but this one's great. great job Jobson

Historia
From the best-selling author of the Sandman Slim series, a lush, dark, stand-alone fantasy built off the insurgent tradition of China Mieville and M. John Harrison - a subversive tale that immerses us in a world where the extremes of bleakness and beauty exist together in dangerous harmony in a city on the edge of civility and chaos. The Great War is over. The city of Lower Proszawa celebrates the peace with a decadence and carefree spirit as intense as the war’s horrifying despair.

it's one of my all-time favorite stories. it's half the writing and half the narration but God the depressing overview of life in this war-torn City tale is just magnificent almost like I can picture living there and it's not necessarily a good thing but you get what good you can out of it I don't know amazing book definitely listen to it I've already given it five goes

Not a fan
Revisado: 12-18-23
sorry this is the second book of Sullivan I tried and I hated them both. the parts in the book are so wildly disparaging the story conflict seems pointless. there's a droll time that is neither witty nor ironic. it seems like a cheap parody of a traditional fantasy novel. the story is ok but way to jumpy, the characters are annoying, I'm sorry I just don't see what people like in his books

Coming ashore with just 20 lancers, he is forced to rely on brains rather than brawn - gaining new allies in a strange land on the cusp of its own internal violence.

amazing trio, among my favorites
Revisado: 11-07-23
I might be crazy but was the last narrator always different? I don't remember that on any of the other 5 or 6 times I've listened to. the story is amazing, the writing is fantastic, always gonna be a favorite, but I just can't get on the last narrator. the voices are nothing alike and his voice is very bland and to even keel. Ben doesn't even sound like Ben anymore. but don't let that deter, the books are fantastic
