Historia
Seattle: a place as magical as the Emerald City. Subtle magic seeps through the cracks in the paving stones of the sprawling metropolis. But only the inhabitants who possess special gifts are open to the city's consciousness; finding portents in the graffiti, reading messages in the rubbish, or listening to warnings in the skipping-rope chants of children.

Powerful story
Revisado: 07-26-21
The fantasy format of the toll from fighting in the Vietnam war is masterfully done. It all comes to life in this telling. I especially enjoyed the Seattle location, as I used to live near there. The narration is well done and a perfect match. I’ve only high praise for this audiobook.

Historia
There has been no word from the courageous warrior Tungdil since the bitter struggle at the Black Abyss. Dragons, magicians, and the cruel älfar have advanced far into the kingdom Girdlegard, ruthlessly seizing vast areas of land. It seems that the dwarves are facing their next battle with very little hope of survival.

Too coarse for me. The first couple books were clever and engaging, then the story went downhill and the integrity failed.

The first couple books were clever and engaging, then it went downhill. I don’t like spending time and money to feel disappointed and party to senseless gore, smut, and disloyalty.

The Ember Blade is worthy to be among the greats
Revisado: 02-26-20
I’m choosy of my literature because it (the story and characters) become part of my experience. This wonderful book astounded me with its engaging companions and thoughtful conversations. I know volume one, and hope the subsequent sequels, will be a favorite visitor in my home many times and again. The story is profound. Ember Blade is forged in promises, vows, and mystical prophecies to be delivered by intrepid souls barely able to keep their heads above water. Despite the story’s great length, my interest stayed riveted such that the end came too soon. Thank you, Chris Wooding, for this excellent book surely bound to enrich lives for all times to come.

The war that saved my life
Revisado: 02-06-18
Thoughtful, beautifully-written narrative about the destruction caused by cruel relationships/parenting. Children's stories often require a rotten homelife in order to permit the young hero to head out on his/her own. But, this story is realistic, the children still want their mother to love them, they cling to what they've always known. I see the news reports about children chained to their beds, abused, and starved by their parents, and I wonder why they don't run and scream for help when they get the chance. This story skillfully and with heart wrenching poignancy shows me how kids are conditioned to see themselves as monstrosities, not their abusers. I'm glad to have read it, to have gained insight via such an uplifting tale.

Historia
In the wake of an unthinkable family tragedy, 12-year-old Flavia de Luce is struggling to fill her empty days. For a needed escape, Dogger, the loyal family servant, suggests a boating trip for Flavia and her two older sisters. Something grazes her fingers as she dangles them in the water. She clamps down on the object, imagining herself Ernest Hemingway battling a marlin, and pulls up what she expects will be a giant fish. But in Flavia's grip is something far better: a human head, attached to a human body.

Historia
Raithe, the God Killer, may have started the rebellion by killing a Fhrey, but longstanding enmities dividing the Rhune make it all but impossible to unite against the common foe. And even if the clans can join forces, how will they defeat an enemy whose magical prowess renders them indistinguishable from gods? The answer lies across the sea in a faraway land populated by a reclusive and dour race who feel nothing but disdain for both Fhrey and mankind.

I still love Tolkien, but Michael Sullivan's writings go far beyond a good story told well. They're relished experiences, worthy people, and thoughts to ponder that jump from fiction right into reality.

Historia
In Age of Myth, fantasy master Michael J. Sullivan launched audiences on an epic journey of magic and adventure, heroism and betrayal, love and loss. Now the thrilling saga continues as the human uprising is threatened by powerful enemies from without—and bitter rivalries from within. Raithe, the God Killer, may have started the rebellion by killing a Fhrey, but long-standing enmities dividing the Rhunes make it all but impossible to unite against the common foe. And even if the clans can join forces, how will they defeat an enemy whose magical prowess renders them indistinguishable from gods?
