I usually listen to the available sample, read reviews and research a book thoroughly before purchasing it, but bought this on impulse based on the title when looking for a couple of books on humor. Having no experience with this series, it was not what I expected, but I decided to give it a try.

It involves listening to music and verbal instructions to drop into a meditative state, whereafter Joel Thielke suggests a series of positive affirmations followed by music intended to be sleep inducing. According to the reviews which I later read, some people do not find the music helps them sleep, but one of the tracks particularly works for me. I sometimes wake several times during the night, but after listening I slept more soundly for two or three nights in a row.

Our preferences are each so different, but if you believe that positive affirmations, positive thinking and subliminal messages can influence thinking, which I do, this approach could be useful in supplanting negative self talk. I felt more cheerful when waking. And it serves as a reminder how important our self image is, as well as developing habits that help us have positive results.
