Historia
Our confidence is what gets us through life. It’s our helmets, life jackets, seatbelts, and mouthguards. Seeing your child battle with low self-esteem and self-doubt is not easy, and your first inclination might be to lock them in a bubble and shield them from the harsh realities of life. But taking that approach will undoubtedly do them more harm than good.

Good Reminder of Unconditional Love
Revisado: 05-13-20
I received this book in exchange for my honest and voluntary review.
This book has many tips for making sure your child feels loved unconditionally, and is a good reminder that you must show your love in concrete ways. The author provides a lot of tips for how parents can immediately utilize to make their child feel loved and supported as they are rather than trying to change the child into what they are not. Some of the information are no brainers and should be a given for any parent, but there are also a lot of tips provided that many parents may not consider. For example, teaching a child that failure is not a punishable offense and it can actually be a positive for future success. I feel this book is a useful tool for reminding parents how to interact and bond with their children of any age.

Historia
You want the best for your child, it’s true, and you might think that “the best” is gifting them with material things that will only bring momentary happiness. For those of you who can’t afford to do so, you see yourselves as failing parents. The truth is, what saves our children and what saves a family are the things that can’t be bought, but can only be taught, learned, and practiced.

Good, but Not Perfect
Revisado: 05-08-20
I received this book in exchange for my honest and voluntary review.
This book has great tips for creating and fostering happiness in your own life, in order to be the best role model you can for your child. Most of the tips are very practical and can be implemented immediately into your life. While I do agree that doing your best to be a positive role model is important, and will definitely help foster a good relationship with your child, I think the idea that if you are happy your child will be happy is overreaching. Children do not automatically emulate their parents' personalities even in the best circumstance, but that is especially not true for any children that are prone to anxiety or have other mental health challenges.
Many of the tips in this book are helpful, but some of the advice needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Many children will not respond well to being pushed into activities or relationships as suggested, and it can actually be harmful for some children to try. Overall I have mixed feelings about the advice, and would highly suggest you consider the needs of your own child(children) and yourself before implementing the advice. Also it is ok and normal not to be perfectly happy all the time or to struggle with some relationships in your life. Yes, you should work toward the goal of happiness and positive relationships, but not having that all the time will not doom your child to a life of unhappiness as the author seems to imply.

Perfect Conclusion
Revisado: 05-06-20
I highly recommend you read the first two books of The Magpie series before reading this one.
After Lucy the "Dark Angel" managed to escape capture at the end of the last book, Jaime finds himself questioning how he can continue in a world where she is on the loose and free to hurt people again. Teaming up with a true crime podcaster, he is determined to find her and stop her wicked ways. Can they find Lucy or will she elude capture yet again?
This book brings in all the beloved characters from the series and introduces a couple of new ones. Edwards ties all the loose ends from the first two books together in this exciting conclusion. In addition, I love that there are excerpts from Lucy's manuscript that give us a peek into her past that was previously a mystery. This is a fast read, and is exciting from start to finish. I highly recommend this book, and the entire series. You will not be disappointed!

Exciting Sequel
Revisado: 05-05-20
I highly recommend you read the first book, The Magpies, prior to reading this one. Although it could be a standalone novel, I feel you'd get much more out of it if you read the books in order.
Five years after being tormented by his downstairs neighbors, Jaime finds himself enraged when his tormenter is released from prison. A stranger contacts him claiming that the previous neighbor is now doing the same thing to the stranger. Desperate to help and possibly seek his own revenge, Jaime goes to meet the stranger and discovers his previous neighbor is up to her old tricks again.
This is an excellent sequel to The Magpies, and expands on the original story in delightful yet terrifying ways. I was shocked and delighted to continue the saga of Jamie vs the "Dark Angel" Lucy. Edwards constructed another twisty tale that kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. Although short, this sequel packs a powerful punch! I read it in one night, and I'm thrilled to move on to the final book in this series and am hopeful for an exciting conclusion.

Kept Me Guessing to the End
Revisado: 04-30-20
When a young child shows up in Tessa's home after while she is out, she is left bewildered and confused. Where did he come from, and why does he call her his new mom? She contacts the police for assistance, but find herself accused of child abduction as a result. So much so that she starts to question her own sanity just as much as everyone else in her life. Did she abduct this child without realizing what she's done, or could someone really break in to leave this child in her home? If someone else is responsible, the big question is what is their motivation?
The flow of this book is excellent, giving you little bits of information to absorb and process before revealing the next twist in the story. The plot keeps you guessing and theorizing about the truth, until the explosive and unexpected ending. I have loved all of Boland's book that I've listened to, and this is no exception. She has the phenomenal ability to create characters that pull an emotional response from you whether good or bad, and to keep you invested in their stories as her books progress. With lots of twists and turns, and sinister innuendos this kept me on the edge of my seat. If you love a great psychological thriller, I highly recommend this book.

OK Material, but a little Offputting
Revisado: 04-28-20
This book addresses people pleasing tendencies, and the issues people pleasers face in both the short and long term. It also offers several theories about the origin of people pleasing, offers suggestions for setting boundaries, and explores how to prevent people pleasing from taking over your life.
Some of the theories and suggestions offered seem very valid, and would be useful for anyone that has difficulty saying no to others or setting boundaries. However, I felt the way the information was presented demeans those that struggle with people pleasing at times. The author implies that all people pleasers are actually manipulators that have zero social skills, and paints them in an extremely negative light (especially in the first few chapters).
In later chapters, the suggested actions are actually manipulative behaviors posed as productive suggestions. For example, saying yes to a request when you really want to say no, but only doing a fraction of what is asked of you. Or requiring someone to send you an outline of their request before answering their plea for assistance, with the hope that they won't follow through with your request for an outline and thus not requiring an answer at all.
Overall this book is a mix of helpful and unhelpful tips, but I didn't appreciate the way the author seemed to talk down about people pleasers and their actions. I feel there are probably more helpful books that could offer the same information in a more positive light.

Exhilirating Crime Novel
Revisado: 04-24-20
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book is an exhilarating crime novel that is action packed and keeps you guessing with twists and turns. Can racist dirty cops takeover the city of Chicago or will their plans be foiled? Can Detective Madison Miller catch a sick serial killer that enjoys taunting the police and the public by flaunting his crimes in the press? The author answers these questions and more as the eight day countdown begins.
This book reads like a true crime saga, with well-developed characters and plotlines. The author expertly weaves the various storylines into a pulse pounding and seamless adventure that never stops moving. I loved that the book is told from different characters' perspectives giving the reader clues into the guilty party(s), but not revealing the whole truth until the last few minutes of the book. I can't wait to read more "seasons" of the Windy City Crimes!

Interesting Intro to the Series
Revisado: 04-24-20
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is an interesting introduction to the series. Fighting for survival as with all zombie apocalypse books, the unique personality and skills of each character is explored. At times the descriptions of the resulting carnage is a little to graphic for my taste, but I was still able to enjoy the story and action. I appreciated the authors unique spin on a typical zombie filled situation. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

The "You Must Know Before You Die!" series is a fascinating and immersive educational collection of publications that delve deep into numerous and far-reaching subjects across the educational spectrum. This is a collection of fascinating facts, insights and stories into Roman Mythology. Numerous gods and tales of Roman Mythology have their origins in Greek Mythology; with slight adaptations in names, places and the nitty gritty parts, for example Heracles in Roman Mythology is referred to as Hercules in Greek, so be sure to check out my other books too.

Great Introduction to Roman Myths
Revisado: 04-23-20
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is the third book I've read in this brilliant series of books by Fuentes that discuss mythology in a cheeky and humorous way. This is a great way to learn about various myths quickly and efficiently. The narrator is funny and helps to keep the information interesting. Despite its short length, this book provides an overview of a large number of myths. If you want to learn the basics of Roman myths, this is a fun and informative way to do so with a short time commitment.

Heartwarming Cozy Romance
Revisado: 04-23-20
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is a feel good romance that is one you should to listen to when you need a pick me up. The flow of the book is perfect, and the characters are lovable and endearing. This is my introduction to Stacy Eaton's work, and I was not disappointed. One of my pet peeves about a lot of romances out there is that they are actually erotica in disguise (the sexual content was appropriate to the story and not over the top), and I loved that this one was not that way. The narrator played the parts of the various characters perfectly, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book overall. I would highly recommend this book.
