Historia
Escape from Dannemora examines the strange case of Joyce Mitchell, the long-time prison employee who had a sexual relationship with at least one of the killers, and who smuggled them tools and aided in the escape, while they cooked up a plan to kill her husband. In the end, Benson looks closely at conditions at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York, a crumbling Gothic pile now under investigation for charges of drug trafficking and brutality.

Basic Summary of what was in the news
Revisado: 09-06-24
The audiobook was OK and it went by pretty fast, but I was hoping for more insight into what had happened. Maybe some lesser known facts about any of the participants in the story. The narrator has a good voice for audiobooks, but I didn’t understand why he was using Brooklyn accents when quoting many of the police officers or other characters. This is upstate New York, so it just didn’t make sense. Overall, if you want something to listen to on a long car ride, this will make the time pass. I just don’t know that you’ll get any additional facts out of the audiobook.

Historia
The Hiltons is a sweeping saga of the success-and excess-of an iconic American family. Demanding and enigmatic, patriarch Conrad Hilton's visionary ideas and unyielding will established the model for the modern luxury hotel industry. But outside the boardroom, Conrad struggled with emotional detachment, failed marriages, and conflicted Catholicism.

Really Interesting Story!
Revisado: 09-02-24
I was actually surprised by how quickly this audiobook went as I listen to it. It is definitely a story about never giving up, no matter how many setbacks you have. Conrad Hilton was obviously a complicated person, but maybe that’s not surprising given difficult times. I really enjoyed this book and will recommend it.

A unique part of history likely little known to most
Revisado: 08-23-24
Very interesting book. Multiple stories that intersect around the events of Pearl Harbor. The book provides insights into some of the behind-the-scenes actions from the Japanese spies in the US, while at the same time providing detail around the experiences of US Japanese citizens living in Hawaii. All of these stories provide some background for a unit of the Navy that would eventually become the NCIS. The audiobook was excellent!

One side of the story
Revisado: 10-28-23
Excellent narration. Example of too much fame at too young an age. She has clearly had trauma in her life, but does not always accept ownership for her behaviors. It does seem like she needed better representation at the start of the conservatorship and unbiased help. Overall, book felt a little ‘scorched earth’.

Historia
Amid one of the darkest times in American history, it was a moment that captured the attention of the nation. Brett Crozier, captain of the most powerful and prestigious aircraft carrier in the United States Navy, walked off his ship for the last time while thousands of his sailors saluted and chanted his name in admiration. This remarkable moment occurred after Crozier made the decision to try to protect his sailors by pleading with his superiors for help when COVID-19 swept through the vessel. Two days later, he was relieved of command.
