First Tolstoy book for me. Comparing arcs of 2 lives - how we find our meaning and joy in life. It’s just really really good. Ranked as one of the top 10 books of all time - understandable why. Instead of just looking at the thoughts of the characters, the author muses on agriculture, religion, and having purpose in life and a growth mindset.

Health book. Plenty of facts. Well researched. Poor execution - frequent cursing annoying. Section about slaughtering animals is good to skip - horror.

The narrator Lloyd James is one the best - distinct enunciation and performed multiple voices solo. The book itself seemed to have no point, no excitement, or deeper message. Appears to be early view on AI and also revolution but only high point was the narration. Starship Troopers is a far, far better book - also narrated by Lloyd James.

Accessible and well read, but the content centers on a very base view of mankind - specifically - people are generally bad unless they are intellectual. Only intellect is virtue - not the heart. Unworthy of purchase.

Not the easiest book to understand, but well worth the time spent to listen and understand. The key to a good life is not problem solving but creating - that is the central theme here and it gives us problem solvers a better way to see our future - though problem solving is our forte, our best life lies in creating a vision and executing. For artists or anyone desirous of looking beyond hurdles towards possibilities, this book is being added to my favorites list for future listens. It’s worth your time and your money. Get it.

Facing our demons (each has their own type) and choosing to live consistent with the promise our destiny and a grand legacy. Being responsible to our best selves by putting aside doubt and short term pleasure. This book is about taking the right road instead of the easy road and it is extremely painful - requiring us to say we are doing living fake lives and will go hard for what we know we are capable of. Fantastic book.

If we learned 1 thing from a book that will help our future (will implement), it was worth the credit. If it is added to favorites because listening again in the future will likely yield even more wisdom (it was packed), that’s an excellent book. This is an excellent book. It covers many topics for the many hats we wear as a leader. I already started the wiki idea and look forward to listening to it again to get other ideas for future development of my business. Unlike most ceo books that focus solely on tech, this one works for all industries - mine is services (lawyer).

Simon Vance, the narrator - brilliant. Bringing every character so perfectly to life with an endearing charm. One of the great books not to be missed about philosophy- masterfully voiced. Get it.

If you listen to no other, make this the one you add to your library. Laugh out loud funny. The lead actor and actress banter is so sharp and cutting - it is easy to see the face of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton in the film of the same name. Amazing.

Unlike many Greek or other “classics” which are difficult to follow or literally boring, this is easy to understand, extremely well acted with passion, and as accessible as any modern theater movie. Really good.
