Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

A Tempered Take on a Bestseller
Revisado: 12-30-23
As someone who typically doesn't succumb to the allure of New York Times bestsellers, I found myself swayed by the captivating display at Barnes & Noble and decided to dive into this book. The premise aligned with my usual taste, and I was eager to explore the narrative, especially given the widespread acclaim.
Elizabeth, the main character, resonated with me on many levels. Her views on life echoed my own, and I appreciated the author's portrayal of a character with whom I could easily connect. Yet, as I progressed through the pages, I couldn't shake the feeling that the book, though enjoyable, fell short of the groundbreaking status touted by numerous reviews.
Perhaps, as a reader who already holds similar perspectives, the novel didn't offer the revelatory experience that others seem to have encountered. I'm accustomed to embracing diverse points of view and approaching life with an open mind, which may be why the supposed groundbreaking nature of the book eluded me.
While the author skillfully weaves together a narrative that captures the essence of relatable viewpoints, I couldn't pinpoint the "wow" factor that so many reviews had emphasized. The promised wild factor, discussed fervently in various critiques, left me searching for the profound impact that others had encountered.
In the end, my reading experience was pleasant, but the anticipated sense of awe was absent. Perhaps my familiarity with similar perspectives dampened the novelty of the narrative. The book still offered a comfortable exploration of familiar themes. Ultimately, it may be a case of personal expectations not aligning with the overarching praise for what others found to be a groundbreaking.

It has it’s highs and lows
Revisado: 12-30-23
As an avid reader who enjoys these types of story lines. I delved into this book with high expectations. While the story did offer its fair share of passion, I found myself grappling with the overall pace of the narrative.
The plot unfolds at a leisurely rhythm, which, unfortunately, didn't quite align with my preference for a more brisk and engaging narrative. There were moments when I felt the story lingered on certain aspects, and I couldn't help but wish for a swifter progression.
However, the author has an undeniable talent for crafting scenes charged. The chemistry between the characters is strong, and the interludes are noteworthy worthy, offering moments of genuine connection between the protagonists. These instances were undoubtedly the highlights of the novel and kept me invested from time to time
On the flip side, there were parts of the book that felt extraneous, and I couldn't help but think that a tighter editing hand might have enhanced the overall reading experience. Trimming unnecessary details could have injected more momentum into the plot.
