Not Just for Artists- For Soul Seekers and Introspective Folks Too
Revisado: 08-25-17
I found this novel to be incredibly compelling and thought-provoking. As someone who doesn't consider herself an artist by any means, Rutenberg allowed me to see art from a different perspective from what my norm is. He provides sound advice to current and aspiring artists- information each person can apply immediately to his or her practice. All in all, I found his fiction and inflection calming and inspiring. It's the most genuine narration I've ever found in an audiobook.

Not Your Ordinary Childhood
Revisado: 05-12-17
What did you love best about The Testimony of a Villain?
I loved that the author did not hold back in the inner dialogue of the main character, Manuel. He didn't leave you speculating what his thoughts or feelings were at any time; you knew his position at every moment throughout the story.
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed how the author exemplified how a single turn of events in one's life can completely change the outcome. Manuel's tragic experience with his family as a child completely changed his journey.
Which scene was your favorite?
I enjoyed when he was eavesdropping on his sister having sex and didn't quite understand what was happening; it portrayed his childhood naivety and innocence in a way we all miss from time to time.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I felt rather melancholy about this book. There were times it made me laugh and smile, but I mostly felt sad and empathetic toward Manuel.
Any additional comments?
The narrator was a perfect choice for this story.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this book to a friend who has been married multiple times and would like someone to relate to on this topic. This book is a very niche topic.

Becky Parker has excellent cadence; her inflections fit the story perfectly too.

Captivating storyline, intriguing characters
Revisado: 10-24-15
Would you listen to BlackHeart's Legacy again? Why?
I would not listen to BlackHeart's Legacy again unless there were a different narrator. I felt as though Paul Woodson spoke too quickly and did not have enough variation in his inflection to transition clearly from one character to another. Throughout the entirety of the book, I wish I had a copy in front of me so I could make it a read a long.
What was one of the most memorable moments of BlackHeart's Legacy?
I truly enjoyed the section where the folks on the ship were cured of scurvy through their diet; I am a bit biased since it's one of my favorite topics.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
I feel as though Woodson could have spoken a little slower and have more pauses throughout transitions.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did not have an extreme reaction to this book, no. It was perfect company throughout three different flights- it kept me relaxingly entertained.
Any additional comments?
I am curious to read the book to see if my impression is any different from the audiobook.

Romance and turmoil in choosing between two lovers
Revisado: 07-23-15

The best experience in listening to the Publicist is that I can relate to the love escapades and the turmoil Kate went through when choosing between two men.

Nick is my favorite character since his personality is gentle and sincere.
What does Lisa Cordileone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Honestly, I don't care for Lisa's voice. I would have rather read the book.

Where does Shelf Life rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I would put Shelf Life right in the middle- it's not the most captivating but not the worst.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Shelf Life?
I enjoyed the sections where Kate's career grew; it was very inspiring.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Lisa Cordileone?
I would listen to another book narrated by Lisa Cordileone only if it were a children's book.

International House Swap Gone Awry
Revisado: 06-19-15
Would you listen to The Swap: A Mystery again? Why?
Yes, I would listen to The Swap: A Mystery again. In my opinion, most fiction would not make great audio books. This one is an exception because of the vast amount of twists and turns throughout the entire plot. I was eager to continue listening to this book- so much that I would listen while completing other tasks that I normally do in silence.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Swap: A Mystery?
The most memorable parts of "The Swap: A Mystery" for me are when the truth behind different characters are revealed; they were like slowly peeled onions, and what was beneath was unexpected.
Have you listened to any of Jane Oppenheimer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, I have never listened to a Jane Oppenheimer performance before. I found her tone and inflection easy to listen to for the entirety of the story.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The Swap: Expect the Unexpected.
