Where does Why I Left Goldman Sachs rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Not the BEST account of the financial crisis, however a very interesting take on the shift in culture that have taken place on Wall Street.

What did you like best about this story?

The rare look inside one of the most important financial institutions in the world.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not really. However, the key changes inside GS is nicely accounted for. However, it may be a bit narrow, due to the authors limited access to guys at the very top. It's more descriptive than offering actual explanations.

Any additional comments?

Worth using a credit on if interested in the inner workings of one of the most opaque yet influential institutions in the world. Not groundbreaking and the author seem to think very highly of Himself in se passages.

What did you love best about Boomerang?

The funny take on a very serious and dry subject.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Boomerang?

The walkthrough of Iceland.

Have you listened to any of Dylan Baker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

i dont know if i have.

If you could give Boomerang a new subtitle, what would it be?

the existing catches it.

Any additional comments?

you have to get this if you are at all interested in the financial crisis that hit us in 07/08. this story, while not exactly thorough, gives a nice overview. The best part is that Michael Lewis never fails to entertain while going through otherwise very dry stories.

What made the experience of listening to 13 Bankers the most enjoyable?

The very insightful (And clearly empirically tested) political & economic thoughts presented.

Who was your favorite character and why?

its not really character driven.

What three words best describe Erik Synnestvedt’s voice?

ends sentences weirdly

If you could give 13 Bankers a new subtitle, what would it be?

Why the US (and maybe EU) needs a shift in the balance of power.

Any additional comments?

This book is an absolute must read. Not only does it chronicle the financial meltdown in the united states, it also carry out a comparative analysis to several emerging economy crises since the 1980's. This comparison is very relevant as the reforms imposed on these countries by the IMF (US) differ significantly from the reforms the Obama Administration managed to carry out following the meltdown of wall st.. Only time will tell if the 'Cognitive Capture' of regulators in Washington by the Wall Street school of though will lead to even more significant meltdowns in the future. This book makes the case that it will and its hard not to take notice.

Where does America Again rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the absolute top books

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

You cant stop laughing

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

He is just hilarious!

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

Everything is funny. Maybe the Wall Street part stands out a bit as being especially funny. Or the outsourcing of jobs part.

Any additional comments?

It is compelling! A very satirical analysis of the downfall of America. A lot of sharp observations taken to the extreme. Obviously not a very scientific take on the current issues, but definitely food for thought presented in a very welcoming and funny way!
